Position Description:

Reporting to the Restaurant Manager, the Shift Manager is responsible for supervising crew members and maintaining floor control such that customers receive quality food in a prompt and courteous manner. The Shift Manager is responsible for assisting the manager with a variety of duties which may include recruiting, staff training, conducting disciplinary action, assisting with performance evaluation, supervision of work teams, maintaining schedules and records of employees, and performing all other responsibilities as directed by the business or as assigned by management.

Essential Functions:

� Greets all guests with a smile and friendly greeting and follows all guest service policies and procedures

� Resolve guest opportunities politely with courtesy and efficiency

� Maintain company procedures and controls for product quality and restaurant maintenance

� Maintains a solid knowledge of product and services available in unit

� Direct and motivate crew members to perform assigned tasks and provide direction or support as necessary

� Perform opening and/or closing procedures properly on all shifts supervised

� Supervise, maintain and train crew members on each of the crew stations and provide input to managers when performance issues arise on any shifts supervised

Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills:

� High School Diploma or GED required, 2 years of college preferred

� 1-2 years of restaurant experience

� Requires the ability to speak, read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence and policy documents, as well as converse comfortably with customers

� Demonstrates strong math and Windows-based computer literacy

� Demonstrates the ability to interact with the public and coworkers in a friendly, enthusiastic and outgoing manner

� Demonstrates the ability to resolve consumer and restaurant issues in a prompt and courteous manner

� Demonstrates the ability to bend, twist, and stand to perform normal job functions

� Demonstrates the ability to prioritize and organizes own and others� work time to meet deadlines and objectives

� Customer service and cash handling experience preferred

Work Environment:

� Primarily indoor environment with occasional tasks outdoors

� Involves standing and walking for long periods of time without frequent rest periods (duration of shift)

� Requires frequent motions of bending, wiping, sweeping, mopping, wrapping, and squeezing

� Routinely reach overhead, forward and underneath shelves, counters, tables, and kitchen equipment

� Frequently squat or stoop to reach items on low shelves or off the floor

� Frequent exposure to fluctuating temperatures in areas such as cooler, freezer and cooking sections of restaurant

� Occasionally lift, move, carry, and stack cartons up to 30 pounds from various heights to/from shelves

� Occasionally climb on stools or ladders and reach for items located on shelves

About the role

Stelco has an immediate opening for a Shift Manager - Operations in the Steelmaking Department, at its Lake Erie Works facility in Nanticoke, Ontario, Canada. This position reports to the Area Manager.

Your day-to-day

� Administer the Stelco safety program to ensure a safe work environment within the Operating facility

� Promote safety by various means (safety contacts, safety tours, incident investigations and follow-up, MSDS and JSA review, equipment condition, etc.) and lead by example

� Ensure adherence to all environmental control procedures and relevant codes and standards

� Supervise hourly workforce and coordinate all administrative activities pertaining to that responsibility (i.e. performance reviews and related documentation, attendance and conduct administration, annual surveillance medicals, etc.)

� Perform administrative activities such as scheduling and paying employees, completing maintenance and operating reports, conducting safety conversations, and compiling other reporting as required

� Communicate, direct, and facilitate the overall operation of the facility; build constructive relationships; ensure accountability, engage employees, and promote teamwork and responsibility to improve employee morale; and ensure consistent productivity and cost

� Maintain an awareness of the condition of operating equipment; troubleshoot equipment failures, and arrange equipment repairs through assigned maintenance personnel

� Maintain accurate production reporting and delay logs

� Actively participates in recruitment screening and selection of prospective new hires

� Establish performance goals and objectives with Area Manager

� College Diploma/University Degree in Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing, Material Science, or Business discipline or a combination of education and experience working in a unionized, manufacturing/industrial environment is preferred

Successful applicants will demonstrate the following qualifications:

� Post-secondary education and/or combination of related work experience in the field of commerce, accounting, economics, casino gaming operations;

� Two (2) or more years of managerial experience in the gaming industry;

� Completion of management/supervisory and/or leadership training program an asset;

� Previous experience in supervising the Cage Team an asset;

� Excellent time management skills and ability to manage multiple projects at the same time;

� Strong organizational, interpersonal, analytical and guest relations skills;

� Strong leadership skills with the proven ability to coach and develop employees;
