Cornerstone Housing for Women is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented, and self-motivated Finance Manager to join our team! The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience in financial services in a similar role, be comfortable working independently with minimal supervision, and be able to provide exceptional customer service. The Manager of Finance will be responsible for the overall development and oversight of the financial and administrative systems which guide the operations of Cornerstone�s facilities. In addition, the Manager of Finance will report directly to the Director of Cornerstone Housing for Women.

Responsibilities:

Financial Management

� Ensure that all Cornerstone�s financial control systems are in place and functioning efficiently

� Collaborate with the Director on preparing and managing Cornerstone�s annual budgets; track monthly actual transactions against the budget

� Manage the payroll, accounts payable and receivable functions; monitor contracts with service providers, suppliers, and landlords

� Prepare billing reports and monthly Women�s Shelter per diem invoices to the City of Ottawa

� Ensure proper calculation, distribution and record keeping for shelter residents� weekly Personal Needs Allowance

� Ensure that solid financial procedures are in place

� Maintain adequate procedures and controls for tenant rent collection, deposits and record keeping; initiate procedures to address rent arrears and concerns; develop systems for Trusteeship relationships

� Ensure proper handling and record keeping of all financial donations and fund raising activities; prepare charitable tax receipts for donations to the Cornerstone Housing for Women Foundation

� Provide timely financial reports for the Director of Cornerstone, funding bodies, government, donors, Management Board, Community Ministries Development Committee, Resource Development Committee, Cornerstone Foundation Board of Directors, Capital Campaign team and the Anglican Diocese

� Ensure that regular deposits are made to the bank on a timely basis as necessary; prepare monthly bank reconciliations

� Develop guidelines for management of all Petty Cash funds

� Recommend and integrate software programs to manage Cornerstone�s accounts

� Collaborate on financial decision-making during Collective Bargaining

� Prepare all documentation for the annual audit according to Diocesan requirements and generally accepted financial policies

� Ensure that all necessary financial policies and procedures are in place, upgraded regularly, and easily accessible

� Take leadership in recommending and implementing strategic plans for long term financial health and sustainability of Cornerstone

Administration and Personnel Management

� Participate in development of emergency and risk management plans

� Ensure that requirements of benefits and pension plans are maintained

� Ensure privacy and confidentiality of organizational information

� Implement back up plans for Cornerstone data and technology systems

� Assist in the choice of technology systems, equipment and trouble shooting services

Leadership

� Participate as an active member of the Cornerstone Managers Team

� Supervise Cornerstone�s Administrator and Resource Development Manager

� Liaise with the Accounting Office of the Anglican Diocese to develop efficient systems and to ensure a smooth flow of information and collaboration

� Attend various meetings to report on Cornerstone�s financial status from time to time, as required

Qualifications:
� University or college education in accounting and financial management. Priority will be given to those holding a CA, CGA or CMA designation.

� Solid accounting and financial management background; at least five years experience in related position(s)

� Proven abilities in financial planning and risk management strategies

� In-depth knowledge of the charitable sector and its financial requirements

� Experience working with volunteer committees and boards

� Experience and training in Employment legislation.
