Construction estimators prepare, estimate and analyze the costs of different construction projects. They can work on civil engineering, architectural, structural and mechanical projects. They are employed by different construction companies and work for major electrical, mechanical and trade contractors. Often construction estimators will be self-employed, contracting out their services to different companies.

Construction estimators should expect to perform many different duties which can include:

  • Preparing estimates of the cost of materials, labour and equipment for a construction project

Position Summary:

The Estimator position reports to the Sales Manager and works closely with all Salespersons, Designers, Production Coordinator (PC) and the Construction Manager (CM). The Estimator's main duty will be the development of accurate and error free es project design budgets and contract estimates for all JBA projects.

Estimator Duties and Responsibilities:


The Estimator will be responsible for all aspects of project costing, vendor/trade ations and labour costing.

Develop accurate Design Budgets and Final Cost estimates and Change Order costing.

Review vendor ation for accuracy and compliance with the project design and scope of work.

Maintain a database of unit costing, labour costs and material and vendor budget costs.

Read, and understand project drawings, related technical documents, ations.

Work with associated project costing software, CRM and other applications.

Have a general understanding of standard residential construction materials and practices, and the Ontario Building code.



Attend applicable company meetings both in-office and on-site to enable project estimating.

Competencies

Must be capable of a high level of detail while completing all job tasks.

Qualifications
