A CFA uses financial data to advise clients on financial or investment decisions. They work in various establishments such as banks, insurance companies, brokerage houses, trust companies, investment firms, underwriting firms and universities. They can work for an organization or be self-employed and take on their own clients.

CFAs work with financial data such as economic forecasts, trends of stocks and bonds, historical financial performances and trading volumes. They may also use financial information to determine whether a client’s marketing strategies are effective relative to their cost.

A CFA works regular nine-to-five hours in an office environment. Look for CFA candidates with a bachelor’s degree or higher academic certification in business administration, economics, commerce, or a related field.
