Georgian Bay Practice Associates Corp is a team of 7 physicians practicing family medicine in a rural community just 2 hours north of Pearson International Airport in Toronto. We are supported with a full complement of Allied Health professionals including social workers, dieticians, pharmacists, nurse practitioners, occupational therapist, respiratory therapist, and nurses.

Our beautiful facility is located on the water in Owen Sound and houses diagnostic imaging, pharmacy, dental, physiotherapy and oxygen therapy as well as a wonderful European bakery. Also known as the Scenic City, Owen Sound is the urban heart of Grey County. Protected by the Niagara Escarpment, Owen Sound is a beautiful, green city home to cultural riches. There are year-round outdoor activities, a thriving music and arts community, excellent restaurants and extensive sports and recreation facilities.

We have a well-equipped clinic along with a procedural room. As well as office-based care, opportunities exist in Owen Sound for obstetrics, inpatient care, surgical assist, emergency, palliative care. There are also teaching opportunities available. This is a part-time or full-time opportunity with flexible hours. You can maintain a small practice or roster up as there are many patients in the area without a primary care provider. Overhead cost is very competitive ranging between 15% to 20% of gross revenue depending on roster size.

    Overview

    Speedvale Clinic is looking for Physician Assistant who can work with family physicians.

    Under the direction and supervision of registered Physicians and in accordance with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario�s (CPSO) Delegation on Controlled Acts policy, the Physician Assistant provides medical care to patients based on mutually agreed upon guidelines.

    Responsibilities may include conducting patient interviews and histories, performing examinations, providing counseling on preventative care and other specific clinical tasks, including, but not limited to, data gathering, consultation with caregivers, ordering medical investigations, and providing patient treatment based on medical directives.

    The supervising physician is responsible for the medical care provided to the patient by the PA and can only delegate medical acts that are within their own scope of clinical practice. The PA is not an autonomous health care provider and cannot act as the principal medical decision maker.

    Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    � Providing primary care services to patients including acute and chronic disease management, preventative care, and well-woman and well child visits

    � Performing certain acts under medical directives, delegated by the physicians

    � Educating patients on health promotion and disease prevention

    Physician experience requirements

    When looking through resumes for a Physician, look for a candidate who has the proper Physician designation, as this means they have completed at least two to three years of medical residency. If experience is required, look for a candidate who has at least three years of experience post-residency. A successful Physician candidate may also have experience working with a particular population, illness, or disease treated in the hiring facility.

    Physician training and education

    Physician candidates must have completed at least a three-year undergraduate degree in mathematics, physics, biology, or chemistry and graduated from an accredited medical school. After graduation, Physician candidates participate in a three- to eight-year internship or residency program. During this time, a Physician candidate rotates in different medical departments—such as family medicine, gynecology, pediatrics, psychiatry, and surgery—to find their desired discipline. Some disciplines, like pediatrics, require more training and education.

    Practicing Physician candidates need to be members of an association in the province or territory in which they plan to practice, such as the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
