Summary:
Under the direction of the Director of Public Security or a delegated officer, the
incumbent enforces laws, regulations and Council By-Laws. They will maintain order
and public security; conduct interventions to a broad range of safety issues, including

Shift Length & Travel Expectations

• Shifts vary in length from 8 to 10 to 12 hours with regular overtime and on-call duties at all times of the day or night
• Shifts vary between 14 days of work followed by 14 rest days in remote Northern Ontario locations, or 8 days of work followed by 6 rest days (Note that schedules are subject to change based on employer needs).
• Detachments can be reached either by car or, in some cases, exclusively by airplane. There may be instances where winter driving is necessary, including travel on winter roads over frozen bodies of water.
