Summary

We are looking for a Generalist to join our Vancouver or Toronto office. This is a dynamic role supporting senior insurance and finance staff and the executive team across client engagements, business initiatives, research, documentation, and day-to-day operations.

The Generalist will work across a variety of projects and will be expected to quickly understand new subject matter, research unfamiliar topics, review financial and corporate client information, prepare high-quality written and presentation materials for external insurance clients, and coordinate commercial projects through to completion. The Generalist will also provide support to the broader operations/administrative team as required.

Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:

  • Conduct research on companies, industries, financial planning, and other business topics to support client engagements and internal initiatives
  • Assist the insurance team in preparing insurance memorandums and financial analysis for external distribution
  • Assist with insurance applications, renewals, policy changes, underwriting requirements, and other aspects of client-file execution
  • Prepare pitch decks and other presentation materials for a variety of projects and initiatives
  • Assist on the creation of custom financial models and analysis in Excel
  • Effectively communicate with lenders, insurance companies, and legal counsel, and coordinate information between those parties when necessary
  • Manage multiple projects and workstreams, ensuring deliverables are completed accurately and on time
  • Analyze operational data, track key performance indicators, and prepare information to support management decision-making
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, automate workflows, and enhance operational efficiency on both commercial and operational/administrative matters

Required Skills and Experience

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to engage with clients and team members
  • Strong research skills and the ability to independently gather, assess, and synthesize information from multiple sources
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a strong commitment to accuracy and consistency
  • Strong organizational and project-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • A proactive and resourceful approach to work, with the ability to identify issues, investigate potential solutions, and move assignments forward with limited direction
  • Ability and willingness to learn quickly, take on new responsibilities, and work across a broad range of business functions
  • Previous experience in financial services, accounting, corporate finance, consulting, insurance, professional services, or another analytical business environment is considered an asset
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Excel and PowerPoint

Salary and Benefits

  • Salary: $90,000 - $105,000 per year, commensurate with experience, plus bonus.
  • Benefits: Extended health benefits plan.

Position Type

  • Nature: Permanent, full-time, in-person
  • Time Commitment: 40 hours per week, with occasional overtime required
  • Work Location: Toronto, ON or Vancouver, BC.
  • Start Date: Immediate
