About the Role

Panex is seeking a Trade Compliance Specialist to oversee regulatory compliance across import/export operations. This role focuses on risk control, regulatory interpretation, and ensuring all shipments meet Canadian and international trade requirements.

Key Responsibilities

· Ensure compliance with CBSA regulations, Customs Act, and import/export requirements

· Review and validate shipment data (HS classification, valuation, origin)

· Monitor and interpret changes in trade regulations, tariffs, and sanctions

· Assess compliance risks and provide guidance to operations teams

· Support customs clearance teams on complex or high-risk shipments

· Develop and maintain internal compliance procedures (SOPs)

· Liaise with government agencies, brokers, and internal stakeholders

· Conduct audits and ensure documentation accuracy and record keeping

Requirements

· 3–5+ years experience in trade compliance, customs brokerage, or international trade

· Strong understanding of Canadian customs regulations and compliance frameworks

· Familiar with HS classification, valuation, and origin rules

· Ability to interpret regulations and apply them to real operations

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

· Detail-oriented with high accountability

Preferred Assets

· Background in government agencies, customs, brokerage, or trading companies

· CCS designation or equivalent certification

· Knowledge of international trade policies, tariffs, and geopolitical impacts on trade

· Experience handling audits, compliance reviews, or regulatory inquiries
