Job Overview
Nourish Cafe is seeking an experienced Catering Kitchen Supervisor to oversee catering operations and ensure exceptional service food delivery to childcare organizations. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive food industry knowledge, and a passion for hospitality. This role requires a minimum of 5 years kitchen experience and leadership experience. This role involves supervising hot food preparation while maintaining high standards of food safety and quality in a fast-paced environment. Nourish Cafe prepares food for children therefore, it's incredibly important the successful candidate has a strong awareness of allergens, contamination prevention and food safety.
Your shift may likely be within 7am-2pm however, flexibility is required. Hours may vary.
Wage is based on experience.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily catering operations, including hot and cold food preparation, following recipes, cooking, ordering, and service delivery
- Be able to support with recipe development and have awareness of nutrient needs for children 1-5 years of age.
- Lead and manage a small team of kitchen staff and support personnel to ensure efficient workflow
- Oversee food handling procedures to maintain compliance with food safety standards, allergens and contamination prevention.
- Knowledge and awareness of Halal food prep
- Exceptional dependability required. You will have a great deal of responsibility to ensure the children are served meals each day.
- Prepare and assist with cooking tasks and prep, ensuring quality and presentation standards are met
- Manage inventory levels, order supplies, and ensure proper storage of ingredients and equipment
- Monitor staff performance, provide training, and foster a positive team environment
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen and service areas in accordance with health regulations
Requirements
- Proven 5 year kitchen experience, including leadership experience within the food service industry
- Strong background in food preparation, cooking, and food handling practices
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in the food industry
- Food Safe Certification required
- Strong and efficient time management skills
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to manage a diverse team effectively
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism
- Fluent in English speaking and comprehension skills required
- Drivers license and vehicle required
- Two contactable professional references required
4% Vacation paid out per cheque.
Pay: $26.00-$35.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30.0 – 40.0 per week
