The Property Maintenance team member will be responsible for completing preventative maintenance, general repairs, inspections, and day-to-day maintenance requests throughout the Hotel Senator and its associated food and beverage outlets.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, takes pride in their work, and is comfortable troubleshooting problems independently.

  • Support kitchen and restaurant equipment maintenance where appropriate
  • Assist with snow removal, exterior maintenance, and seasonal projects
  • Maintain maintenance tools, equipment, storage rooms, and work areas
  • Coordinate with outside contractors and service companies when required
  • Keep accurate records of completed repairs and outstanding maintenance items
  • Assist with renovations, improvement projects, furniture installation, and other property upgrades
  • Respond quickly to urgent operational issues that may affect guests or hotel operations
  • Follow all workplace health, safety, and building procedures

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in hotel, commercial building, apartment, construction, or general property maintenance is preferred
  • Strong general handyman and troubleshooting abilities
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and building maintenance
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple maintenance requests
  • Good communication and organizational skills
  • Reliable, punctual, and professional
  • Comfortable working around hotel guests and restaurant customers
  • Ability to safely use hand tools and basic power tools
  • Ability to lift, carry, climb ladders, and perform physical maintenance work
  • Valid driver's licence is an asset
  • Trade experience or certifications are considered an asset but are not required

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Proactive rather than waiting for problems to occur
  • Able to identify maintenance concerns before they become larger repairs
  • Resourceful and comfortable troubleshooting
  • Organized and able to manage a daily maintenance list
  • Focused on safety and quality
  • Respectful when working in occupied guest rooms and public areas
  • Willing to assist different departments when operational needs arise
  • Proud of keeping a historic property in excellent condition

Schedule

The position may include a combination of weekday and weekend shifts depending on operational requirements. Some flexibility may occasionally be required for urgent maintenance situations or property projects.

Why Join the Hotel Senator?

This is an opportunity to work in a unique historic Saskatoon property where the maintenance team plays an important role in both the guest experience and the long-term preservation and improvement of the building.

You will work closely with hotel management and department leaders and have the opportunity to contribute directly to renovations, preventative maintenance programs, and ongoing property improvements.

To apply, please submit your resume through Indeed outlining your maintenance, construction, trades, or property management experience.
