Career Contacts is supporting our client in the search for a Intermediate Health & Safety Advisor to join their team. This role is ideal for an experienced Health & Safety professional who enjoys developing practical safety programs, supporting province-wide initiatives, and helping improve workplace health and safety across BC's continuing care sector.

Reporting to the Director of Occupational Health & Safety, the successful candidate will bring strong knowledge of provincial and federal health and safety legislations, experience developing and implementing programs, and the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to support health and safety initiatives across the continuing care sector.

Start Date: Immediately

Hours: Monday-Friday
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Compensation: $80,000 to $90,000 per year (based on experience)

Location: Burnaby, BC (hybrid)

What You'll Be Responsible For:

  • Develop, maintain, and update health and safety resources, programs, tools, and guidance materials
  • Interpret and apply applicable health and safety legislation and regulatory requirements, including the Workers Compensation Act (WCA) and Occupational Health and Safety Regulation (OHSR)
  • Analyze health and safety data and trends to support reporting, program evaluation, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Support and coordinate health and safety projects, compliance initiatives, and resource development activities
  • Develop and deliver health and safety training, workshops, and educational materials
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders, providing guidance, reporting, and program support as needed
  • Perform other related duties and projects in support of organizational priorities as required

What You'll Bring:

  • Post-secondary education in Health & Safety or a related discipline
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant occupational health and safety experience
  • Strong knowledge of BC health and safety legislation and regulations, with experience applying requirements in workplace settings
  • Experience developing and implementing health and safety programs, including hazard assessments, inspections, investigations, corrective actions, and training
  • Experience in healthcare, continuing care, or social services is an asset
  • Understanding of disability management and return-to-work programs is an asset
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (including SharePoint)
  • Experience with data tools, LMS platforms, WorkSafeBC dashboards, or project management is an asset
  • Ability to manage priorities independently and collaborate with stakeholders
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle is an asset
