Medical Office Assistant (MOA)

Full-Time – Family Practice | Lower Sackville, NS

Start Rate: $18–$20/hour
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (45-hour work week)
Paid Lunch Break: 1 hour daily (adds up to an extra 10 paid hours per pay)
Benefits: Medical benefits available after 3 months

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and professional Medical Office Assistant (MOA) to join our busy family practice in Lower Sackville. The ideal candidate is organized, compassionate, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Schedule and manage appointments using the MedAccess EMR system
  • Register and bill patients (MSI and private pay)
  • Maintain smooth patient flow and ensure exam rooms are always prepared
  • Follow up on test results and manage pending patient charts
  • Uphold patient confidentiality and privacy at all times
  • Monitor and manage clinic supply inventory
  • Complete documentation and forms as directed by the Clinic Director
  • Adhere to clinic policies and procedures to maintain operational standards
  • Collaborate with the team to support daily clinical operations
  • Remain professional and composed in multitasking situations
  • Demonstrate integrity and flexibility with assigned work hours

Qualifications

  • Preferred: Completion of a recognized Medical Office Assistant or Receptionist program (or equivalent experience)
  • Asset: 1–3 years' experience in a family practice clinic
  • Asset: Proficient with MedAccess EMR and medical billing (MSI & private)
  • Preferred: Experience in a high-volume medical office
  • Strong multitasking, time management, and data entry skills
  • Excellent telephone etiquette and attention to detail
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel (asset)
  • Ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment
  • Required: Must be a resident of Nova Scotia
