Full job description

Point No Point Resort is an oceanfront destination offering 25 private beach-front rental units perched on a bluff high above the shoreline on 40 acres of rugged waterfront. We are situated on the southwest coast of Vancouver Island in Shirley, 26 kilometers west of Sooke. We are looking for a dependable and versatile addition to our team. This role involves a range of tasks to ensure our property remains beautiful, functional, and safe. The ideal candidate will have hands-on skills, a strong work ethic, and the ability to adapt to diverse tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform general maintenance, including small repairs and upkeep of buildings and facilities.
  • Paint interior and exterior surfaces as needed to maintain resort standards.
  • Remove bushes, overgrowth, and seasonal debris to keep the grounds well-maintained.
  • Prune trees, shrubs, and plants to enhance the property’s appearance.
  • Split, prepare, and stack firewood for guest use and resort operations.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Use ladders to access elevated areas for maintenance tasks.
  • Remove trash and ensure the resort remains clean and organized.
  • Assist with additional maintenance and groundskeeping duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in general maintenance, landscaping, or groundskeeping is considered an asset.
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical and building is preferred.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and equipment.
  • Physical ability to lift, bend, and work outdoors in various weather conditions on rugged terrain.
  • Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be able to work a combination of weekends and midweek shifts.
  • Reliable transportation is required. The resort is located 26 km west of Sooke, and there is no public transit to the property. Please note we do not offer staff accommodations.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent

Pay: $25.00 per hour

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Shirley, BC: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Education:

  • Secondary School (preferred)

Experience:

  • Maintenance: 1 year (preferred)
