Full job description

The successful candidate will work in a clinical environment working closely with the eye surgeons to provide patient care. This will consist of patient registration, performing diagnostic preliminary testing (tonometry, visual field testing, topographies, and OCT imaging), surgery coordinating, scheduling of appointments, answering telephone calls and a variety of other front desk duties which help in maintaining patient flow.

We are looking for a team member who meets the following prerequisites:

· Must be fluent in English; Mandarin/Cantonese is favorable

· High school diploma or equivalent required; certified as an Ophthalmic Technician or Medical Office Assistant preferred but not required

· Proficiency with computers and strong keyboarding skills

· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with patients, physicians, and other members of the healthcare team

· Ability to work in a fast paced team environment as well as work independently

· Highly motivated with the ability to follow through on tasks to completion

· Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to maintain accurate records and documentation

· Flexibility and willingness to learn and grow

· Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of professionalism and patient care

· EMR experience (Plexia) an asset, but not required

This position is full time and salary is dependent on experience and skill, therefore competitive and negotiable. There will be a three month probation period. This position is available immediately.

We are located in the Vancouver General Hospital area.
