Full job description

We are an early-stage, physician-founded health technology company based in British Columbia, building software for medical practices. Our founding team includes practicing physicians across multiple specialties, and we're looking for an experienced MSP (Medical Services Plan) biller to manage billing for their practices on a part-time, remote basis. Beyond day-to-day billing, your expertise will help shape how we think about billing in the products we build. The role starts part-time, with the expectation that it grows into full-time work once our product goes live.

Duties

  • Prepare and submit MSP claims through Teleplan for multiple physicians
  • Review and verify claims for accuracy before submission
  • Reconcile remittance statements; follow up on refused or unpaid claims promptly, resolving discrepancies and resubmitting as needed
  • Handle WorkSafeBC, ICBC, and private/uninsured patient billing as needed
  • Maintain detailed documentation of billing activities, adjustments, and communications with payers and patients
  • Advise physicians on fee items, billing rules, and documentation requirements
  • Provide clear monthly reporting for each physician
  • Stay current on MSC Payment Schedule changes and billing best practices

Skills

  • 5+ years of MSP billing experience
  • Experience billing for multiple physicians at once, or across more than one specialty (strongly preferred)
  • Strong working knowledge of the MSC Payment Schedule and Teleplan
  • Ability to analyze claim refusals and rejection codes and take corrective action independently
  • Solid grasp of medical terminology for interpreting clinical documentation
  • Familiarity with common EMRs (Oscar, Med Access, Accuro, etc.) an asset
  • Exceptional organization and attention to detail
  • Effective communicator with physicians, MSP/payers, and patients
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working independently in a remote setting

Details

  • $35–$40/hour depending on experience
  • Part-time and flexible to start, with a path to full-time once we launch
  • Fully remote

Pay: $35.00-$45.00 per hour

Benefits:

  • Flexible schedule

Work Location: Hybrid remote in Vancouver, BC
