SJR is an independent co-educational Kindergarten to Grade 12 university-preparatory day school that prepares students for university and the challenges of the world beyond. We invite applications for the following position:

Marketing & Communications Coordinator

Full-Time Permanent Position

Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Communications, the Marketing and Communications Coordinator is a creative, organized and detail-oriented professional who will be responsible for:

Marketing and Creative Production:

  • Under the direction of the Director, designing and producing brochures, presentations, signage and other print and digital materials in accordance with established School brand standards.
  • Writing routine promotional copy, adapting approved content and proofreading materials for accuracy and consistency.
  • Creating graphics and editing photographs and short-form videos for use across School communications channels.
  • Supporting the delivery of approved marketing and communications initiatives.

Yearbook and Publication Production:

  • Designing and producing pages for the annual School yearbook, including layout, content and photograph collection, submission tracking and verification of names and captions.
  • Maintaining the established yearbook production schedule and following up with faculty, staff, students and other contributors.
  • Proofreading the completed yearbook and reviewing final page proofs before submission for approval and production.
  • Compiling, designing, formatting and proofreading other recurring School publications, including handbooks, agendas and reports

Digital Communications and Social Media:

  • Updating the School’s public website and internal parent portal with approved content, checking links, formatting and presentation.
  • Building, formatting, testing and scheduling approved newsletters, announcements and other email communications.
  • Preparing routine social media posts and visual assets within an established editorial calendar, and scheduling and publishing approved content.
  • Monitoring social media activity and promptly referring questions, sensitive comments and emerging concerns to the Director of Marketing and Communications.
  • Following established editorial, accessibility, search engine optimization and digital usability practices.

Photography, Production and Project Coordination:

  • Capturing and editing photographs and video at School events and activities to support identified storytelling needs.
  • Maintaining the School’s digital asset collection and checking recorded consent information before photographs or videos are used.
  • Coordinating production schedules, content submissions, project files and proofs, and liaising with approved suppliers.
  • Collecting and compiling website, email and social media performance metrics for review by the Director.
  • Managing assigned tasks and deadlines independently within established processes, seeking guidance on unclear requirements or sensitive matters.

The ideal candidate will hold a diploma or degree in creative communications, graphic design, marketing, communications or a related field, or have an equivalent combination of education and experience. They will have one to three years of relevant experience. Strong working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly InDesign and Photoshop, is preferred. Experience with website content management systems, email platforms, social media, photography and video editing is also preferred. Familiarity with AMAIS, Microsoft SharePoint, Constant Contact, Canva, Blackbaud or mySchoolApp would be considered an asset.
