ROLE OVERVIEW
The Growth Marketing Lead owns the performance, development, and future growth of Midnight Marketing’s Growth department.
You’ll take over a strong foundation of existing client accounts across SEO, paid advertising, analytics, lead generation, and website optimization. However, this role is about more than maintaining what already exists. As Midnight Marketing enters its next stage of growth, you’ll be responsible for developing the systems, team structure, service standards, and scalable workflows required to expand the department.
This is a hands-on leadership role. You’ll manage client strategies and platforms, analyze performance, communicate results, and support Account Managers while also building the department’s long-term capabilities. The ideal candidate has previously helped grow a digital marketing or performance department and understands how to balance day-to-day client delivery with team development, process improvement, and strategic planning.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
GROWTH DEPARTMENT LEADERSHIP
- Own the performance, quality, and continued development of Midnight Marketing’s Growth department.
- Maintain a strong foundation of existing client accounts while building the systems, team structure, and service capacity required for the department’s next stage of growth.
- Develop a scalable department plan based on client volume, service needs, team capacity, and future hiring requirements.
- Support the recruitment, onboarding, training, and development of Growth employees and freelance resources.
- Establish clear workflows, service standards, quality-control processes, documentation, and ownership across the department.
- Assign and oversee Growth work, ensuring deliverables are accurate, strategic, completed on time, and aligned with client goals.
- Identify risks, capacity concerns, underperformance, or blockers early and recommend solutions before they affect results or the client experience.
- Identify opportunities to improve or expand Midnight Marketing’s Growth services.
SEO & WEBSITE OPTIMIZATION
- Lead SEO strategy and execution for all clients subscribed to SEO services.
- Conduct keyword, competitor, search-intent, and content-gap research for ongoing marketing clients and website projects.
- Develop and oversee on-page, technical, local, and off-page SEO strategies, including backlink development.
- Complete website audits and recommend improvements to search visibility, user experience, lead generation, and conversion performance.
- Monitor rankings, organic traffic, conversions, and other SEO indicators and adjust strategies based on results.
- Complete routine front- and back-end website updates, collaborating with the Web department when advanced design or development is required.
- Support website projects with sitemap recommendations, content structure, metadata, redirects, keyword integration, tracking, and launch-related SEO requirements.
- Stay current on changes to search engines, AI-powered search, and evolving SEO practices.
PAID ADVERTISING, EMAIL & LEAD GENERATION
- Oversee paid advertising strategy, setup, targeting, optimization, budget management, and reporting across Google, LinkedIn, Meta, and other relevant platforms.
- Develop lead-generation strategies that align audience targeting, campaign messaging, landing pages, offers, and conversion paths.
- Monitor campaign pacing, cost per lead, conversion rates, lead quality, and return on ad spend, proactively adjusting underperforming campaigns.
- Ensure conversion tracking is configured correctly and set realistic expectations based on client budgets, audiences, sales cycles, and available data.
- Create and manage client newsletters and email campaigns, including strategy, segmentation, automation, testing, and performance reporting.
- Ensure paid and email campaigns align with broader client strategies, messaging, and lead-generation goals.
ANALYTICS, KPIS & REPORTING
- Oversee the agency’s analytics account and maintain accurate tracking and reporting across client properties.
- Work with Account Managers to establish meaningful KPIs based on each client’s business goals, audience, campaigns, and sales cycle.
- Analyze website, social media, SEO, email, and advertising data to identify patterns, opportunities, and areas of concern.
- Translate data into a clear performance story that explains what is working, what needs attention, and what should happen next.
- Develop and maintain dashboards and reporting standards that make performance easy for clients and internal teams to understand.
- Maintain conversion tracking through platforms such as GA4, Google Tag Manager, Google Search Console, and platform-specific pixels.
- Support performance forecasting, budget recommendations, campaign planning, and strategic decision-making.
PLATFORM & CLIENT ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT
- Set up new clients across all required analytics, advertising, SEO, social media, email marketing, reporting, and tracking platforms.
- Ensure accounts have the correct access, permissions, integrations, conversion tracking, naming conventions, and internal documentation.
- Act as a super administrator across client social media, advertising, analytics, and other relevant digital platforms.
- Maintain organized and secure platform access that supports smooth onboarding, offboarding, and internal transitions.
- Regularly audit account access, tracking, integrations, and platform health, flagging issues and recommending next steps.
AI, AUTOMATION & INNOVATION
- Stay current on advancements in AI, automation, analytics, search, and digital marketing technology.
- Identify repetitive or inefficient work that can be improved through AI-supported workflows, agents, automation, or stronger system integrations.
- Develop practical initiatives that use AI to improve the quality, speed, scalability, and strategic value of client work.
- Clearly explain the purpose, business value, limitations, and requirements of proposed AI initiatives to clients and internal teams.
- Collaborate with Midnight Marketing’s in-house AI Specialist on agent creation, training, integrations, automations, and code-based implementation.
- Establish appropriate quality-control standards to ensure AI-supported work remains accurate, secure, strategic, and aligned with client expectations.
CLIENT & TEAM COLLABORATION
- Join client calls to present results, answer questions, and provide strategic guidance related to SEO, advertising, analytics, lead generation, website performance, email marketing, and AI initiatives.
- Translate technical and analytical work into clear business value for clients and internal team members.
- Serve as the primary internal resource for Growth-related questions, providing approachable and practical guidance.
- Collaborate with Account Managers during campaign planning to establish KPIs and incorporate Growth strategy from the beginning.
- Work across Web, Content, Design, Campaign, and AI teams to improve performance and the overall client experience.
- Proactively communicate results, recommendations, missing information, risks, blockers, and changing priorities to the appropriate team members and leadership.
WHAT YOU BRING
- 5+ years of experience in growth, digital, or performance marketing, with strong expertise across SEO, paid advertising, analytics, conversion tracking, lead generation, and website optimization; agency and B2B experience are strongly preferred.
- 2+ years of leadership experience, with demonstrated success building or scaling a Growth, SEO, or performance marketing department.
- Proficient with GA4, Google Tag Manager, Google Search Console, Google Ads, LinkedIn Campaign Manager, Meta Ads Manager, SEO tools, and CMS platforms. Experience with CRM, email marketing, automation, and attribution tools is an asset.
- A strategic and analytical thinker who can turn complex data into measurable KPIs, clear insights, and practical recommendations.
- A confident and approachable communicator who can explain complex work, present results, defend recommendations, and make the value visible to clients and internal teams.
- A proactive, systems-minded leader who can manage multiple accounts, build scalable processes, and identify risks or underperformance early.
- Genuinely excited about AI and automation, with the ability to identify practical opportunities and collaborate with technical specialists on implementation.
- Collaborative and adaptable, with high standards for quality, accuracy, confidentiality, and human oversight.
- Working knowledge of routine website updates; advanced development skills and energy industry experience are considered assets.
