Full job description

In partnership with the Indigenous Career Pivot Program delivered by Workforce Warriors Inc.*, CN-CGA is seeking Indigenous applicants* to the position of Marine Policy Analyst. This position will help support the development of marine safety capacity within Indigenous communities by contributing to data analysis, policy research, and funding development initiatives. This position is designed as a skills-development opportunity to strengthen workforce readiness in policy analysis, grant writing, and community-based marine governance.

The successful candidate will receive mentorship, hands-on training, and practical experience that build transferable skills for long-term career growth across the public policy, Indigenous governance, marine safety, and research sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze marine search and rescue (SAR) operational data and prepare summary reports
  • Assist with research and development of policy and governance materials
  • Support grant research and funding application preparation
  • Contribute to strategic planning and program development initiatives
  • Provide project support to leadership and operational staff
  • Participate in collaborative team meetings and community engagement initiatives

Skills Development & Training

This role includes:

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in public policy, Indigenous Governance, Political Science, Environmental Studies, Marine Studies, or related field
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer systems
  • Ability to work independently in a remote setting
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team

Assets:

  • Experience in grant writing or research

Familiarity with marine safety, emergency management, or Indigenous governance
Experience working with First Nations communities

Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months

Pay: $28.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 20 per week
