Full job description

A part-time contract position exists to support my adult daughter/sister in our home and her community. She is an enthusiastic musician and expressive acrylic artist. She enjoys outdoor activities as well as swimming, movies, beauty treatments, and cooking dinner for her family. She lives her life as a deaf-blind woman and is also a wheelchair user.

Responsibilities include encouraging her to maintain her independence by assisting her to connect with others in her community (neighbourhood and church) as well as assisting her with daily activities, meals, some personal care, etc.

You may be a student seeking a career in social/community field, citizens of the community and/or professionals.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Negative Vulnerable Sector Police Clearance
  • Intermediate or Standard First Aid CPR C AED
  • COVID- 19 Vaccinations
  • Volunteer experience in the community
  • Sign-language experience preferred (training is provided)

Preferred Qualifications:

Driving is strictly optional for this role. If you are open to driving, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Ontario Driver’s license (G2 or higher),
  • Clean Driver’s Abstract,
  • And must possess a reliable personal vehicle and willing to obtain a Commercial Auto Insurance Policy (eg. Permission to Carry Passengers for Compensation) endorsement.

Hourly service range: $20-$24 per hour

Varied hours of support: Varied hours of support. Approximately 18-24 hours per week.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $20.00-$24.00 per hour
