Full job description

We are actively recruiting skilled individuals to join our team. We require candidates who can commit to part-time hours initially, with the potential to transition too full-time. The ideal candidate should be comfortable working with high-energy male/females and be available for 8 hour shifts, particularly during afternoons and graveyard hours. Patience and the ability to engage with youth facing mental health and behavioural challenges are essential. Weekend and holiday coverage will also be required.

We have specific openings for weekend shifts and welcome applicants who are available during those times.

Qualifications and Conditions

  • A relevant College Diploma or University Degree.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in child & youth care, or a blend of relevant education and experience working with street-involved youth.
  • Possession of current First Aid, Food Safe certification, and a Class 5 Driver's License.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with community resources in the Lower Mainland.
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team setting.
  • Alignment with the organization's mandate, policies, and procedures.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to maintain accurate records and generate reports.
  • Completion of a criminal record check is mandatory.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee residents in their daily lives, fostering a trusting, non-judgmental, and non-exploitative relationship with youth.
  • Actively engage in programming and activities to serve as a positive role model for youth in the resource.
  • Organize, supervise, and take part in recreational, housekeeping, and social activities to build trusting relationships, offer alternative activities, and provide guidance in social interaction.
  • Maintain regular communication with Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD), social workers, other support agencies, residents' families, and/or caregivers to share information about significant changes in residents' behavior or placement.
