Peregrine Millwork Ltd. is an award‑winning architectural millwork manufacturer based in Burnaby, BC, partnering with leading restaurant and retail brands across North America for 35+ years. From our 50,000 sq. ft. facility and 80‑person team, we engineer and fabricate premium commercial interiors. We’re hiring a Drafting Technologist to turn design intent into precise shop drawings, material takeoffs, and Computer Numerical Control (CNC)‑ready programs that keep our projects running smoothly from concept through installation.

Responsibilities:

Review design documents, i.e. Issued for Construction (IFC) Drawings

  • Identify project risks early on and plan appropriate resolutions.

Review Technical Lead’s recommendations

  • Review for completeness and add any questions.
  • Ensure full understanding of the scope and any issues.
  • Plan for site conflicts and interactions with other trades.

Understand Project Materials

  • Plan for best use and limitations.
  • Plan and call out format issues.
  • Make recommendations for changes where reasonable.

Create Engineering Schedule with Project Manager (PM)

  • Plan adequate time for shop drawings, programming, takeoffs, and other required tasks.
  • Set engineering milestones tied to information receipt and job progress.
  • Periodically revisit schedule to ensure milestones are met.

Create Purchasing Plan with Project Manager

  • Plan adequate time for detailed takeoffs at long lead and regular lead purchasing stages.
  • Set purchasing milestones with Project Manager tied to drawing completion and projected production start.
  • Attend purchasing review meetings.

Create Shop Drawings

  • Engineer and design products according to Peregrines Engineering Standards.
  • Ensure full scope is included with all relevant context.
  • Upload drawings to Innergy according to standards.
  • With Project Manager submit drawing packages for approval to customer.
  • Modify drawings to customer redlines as required.
  • Request site dimensions as required and incorporate into drawings.

Create Bill of Materials

  • Enter all materials/hardware required by line item in Innergy.

Create CNC Programs

  • Create Microvellum products and release to CNC.
  • Check required materials against purchased materials.

Release to Production

  • Ensure complete production package is prepared for release date. Drawing Package, Material Report, and CNC work order must be bundled together and released at once.
  • Distribute package parts to correct recipients (CNC, Material Control, Lead Hand)

Follow up on Production and Install

  • Check in on Lead Hand and production staff during install.
  • Track issues and ensure lessons learned are incorporated in future jobs.

Maintain internal documents (PM Allocation, SQL, Innergy, etc)

Requirements

· Post-secondary education in drafting technology or related discipline, or equivalent education/experience in lieu.

· 3 years of relevant drafting experience in commercial millwork interiors.

· Proficiency with CAD (e.g., AutoCAD or equivalent) to produce accurate shop drawings and interpret IFC/construction drawings.

· Demonstrated ability to create material takeoffs and detailed Bills of Materials, with working knowledge of common millwork materials (solid wood, veneers, laminates, solid surface, metals, plastics).

· Hands‑on experience preparing CNC programs for production.

· Comfortable planning and tracking an engineering schedule and purchasing milestones in collaboration with Project Management; able to revisit milestones to maintain on‑time delivery.

· Familiarity with releasing complete production packages (drawing set, material report, CNC work order) and coordinating distribution to manufacturing teams.

· Strong foresight to identify site conflicts and interactions with other trades; able to raise RFIs and recommendations proactively.

· Working knowledge of basic ERP/quoting and data tools (eg Innergy, SQL).

· Detail‑oriented, organized communicator who can incorporate customer redlines, request site dimensions, and support smooth install/close‑out.
