Full job description

Founded in 1993 and located in both Metro Vancouver and Vancouver Island, Together We Can – Addiction Recovery & Education Society is one of Canada’s premier treatment centres for men and women battling alcohol and drug addiction. The Client Care Worker works under the direction of the Operations Manager and is responsible for the health and safety of all clients and volunteers on site during their shift.

We are in need of an exceptional Client Care Worker to join our team to work at our Vancouver main site.

Required for the position:

  • Clear Criminal Record Check, vulnerable adults
  • Negative Tuberculosis Test
  • Standard First Aid, CPR & Naloxone Training

A typical day for you could include:
- Helping clients improve their quality of life, ensuring their are working on their recovery
- Room checks, attendance & monitoring of clients through the day
- Leading by example and modelling healthy behaviours for clients & volunteers
- Dispensing medication, under the direction of the Medication Administrator
- Updating case notes in electronic health record

Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to interact courteously, tactfully and empathetically with clients
- Resolve conflicts and provide crisis intervention
- Analyze, make decisions and resolve problems concerning client care
- Work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team
- Ensure, overall, that the operation of the residential facility is safely maintained
- Monitor and supervise the activities and behaviors of clients
- Maintain safety and security within the facility
- Dispense and observe clients taking their medications as required and record on the client’s individual Medication Administration Record (MAR) sheet under the supervision of the Medication Administrator
- Respond to incoming calls in a manner that respects the clients’ needs and the confidential nature of Together We Can’s operation
- Communicate regularly with Together We Can staff by e-mail and writing in the communication log during shift regarding client issues such as at-risk clients, notable behaviours, crisis management and for any other areas of concern or unusual occurrences.
