Program Coordinator – Supported Volunteer Program
Reporting to the Manager of Community Programs, the Supported Volunteer Program Coordinator is responsible for working with adults with developmental differences in the Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows area by providing training and support opportunities by coordinating volunteer placements within community.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Develop and coordinate meaningful volunteer opportunities tailored for adults with support needs and developmental differences, fostering inclusive community engagement.
- Receive and manage client referrals from Community Living British Columbia, ensuring a streamlined intake process.
- Assess client referrals to identify strengths, interests, and goals, matching each client to an appropriate volunteer opportunity.
- Provide skill-based training to referred clients, equipping them with the necessary tools for a successful, rewarding volunteer placement.
- Calculate and record volunteer hours contributed by clients, track placements, and compile data for program documentation, including the annual program report.
- Implement and maintain updates to program policies and procedures, ensuring the program manual remains current and accurate.
- Continuously monitor program progress and outcomes to ensure contract requirements are met. Report any issues or discrepancies to the Program Director and Executive Director for resolution.
- Participate in meetings, address any challenges, and escalate concerns to the supervisor as needed.
- Ensure detailed and organized documentation of all communications, including personal and telephone interactions.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training and Experience
- 2-year diploma from a recognized post-secondary in the social services field; and/or in the area of working with persons with special needs/developmental disabilities.
- 2 years of related experience in behaviour, communication and training of persons with developmental disabilities and/or vulnerable adults.
Additional Requirements
- Clear Criminal Record Check is required.
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate.
- Valid and unrestricted Class 5 BC Driver’s License with access to a safe and reliable vehicle.
- Clear Driver’s Abstract (provided annually).
- Position requires Union Membership.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of community agencies, resources and support services, in order to aggressively access
resources needed.
- Ability to accurately record and report detail for client files and other related documents.
- Ability to efficiently and effectively manage time, energy and stress levels.
- Possess strong computer skills including but not limited to word processing, client database, email, and spreadsheets.
- Possess interpersonal and problem-solving skills meeting the level of challenged individuals.
- Ability to communicate effectively with individuals with disabilities.
- Possess a dedicated attitude towards the rights of individuals with disabilities.
- Knowledge and understanding of socio-economic and cultural background of each client.
- Possess awareness of the variety of challenges and levels of people with disabilities that could be referred to this program.
- Knowledge of Continuous Quality Improvement philosophy
- Ability to empower others
- Ability to establish a respectful relationship with persons served to help gain skills and confidence.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other personnel and/or providers or professionals.
Shift/Schedule/Hours per week: 31 hrs/week, Monday – Friday; temporary position until the return of the incumbent
Expected Start Date: ASAP
Wage/Salary: starting at $29.17/hour
Grid Level: 12
