General Job Summary

The Station Manager is responsible for overseeing the efficient receipt, storage and dispatch of freight shipments. Must manage people, processes and systems and make sure all operating and productivity targets are met. The Station Manager also oversees the maintenance of warehouse and labour-management systems. The incumbent must maintain and enforce the workplace health and safety standards.

Principle Functions/Responsibilities

· Coordinate inbound and/or outbound activities

· Adhere to load departure schedules, and co-ordinate warehouse manpower and equipment to meet the requirements

· Maintain effective relationships with customers and staff

· Interface with customers to avoid, and if necessary, solve problems

· Have a clear understanding of the company’s policies and vision and how the warehouse contributes to these

· Develop and implement plans that support the overall business unit objectives

· Responsible for accurate inventory and productivity levels

· Manage documentation and flow of imported goods through bonded warehouse

· Motivating, organizing and encouraging teamwork within the workforce to ensure operating and productivity targets are met or exceeded

· Maintain standards of health and safety, hygiene and security in the work environment

· Oversee the planned maintenance of vehicles, machinery, and equipment

· Ensure employees are completing overage, shortage, and damage reports when required

· Develop and manage a cost-effective budget for authorized department that is aligned with the company business strategy

· Create and/or monitor operating procedural documents

· Produce monthly reports and KPI’s

· Hire, supervise, schedule, and train personnel

· Ensure proper staffing during times of vacation, etc. This includes monitoring the cross-training process of supporting staff to ensure consistency in job function and skills

· Maintain the safety, cleanliness and organization of the warehouse

· Manage, supervise and evaluate the operation and staff

· Provide timely and meaningful reports to management

· Participate in monthly management meetings

· Support productivity projects

· Carry out any tasks that may be assigned by the Director, Cargo Handling Operations and managers assigned to act on behalf of the CEO in an effective & timely manner.

Education, Training, Experience Requirements

· Post-secondary education in Business or related field

· University degree preferred

· Minimum 5 years experience in transportation, distribution and/or freight management or related

· Minimum 5 years experience managing a team and driving proven results

· Valid Canadian Driver’s License

Hours of work may include weekends, holidays and after hours.
