Job Summary

Missy's Diner is a busy, family-owned restaurant located inside Mira Ferry Market in rural Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. We serve breakfast, lunch, dinner, homemade pizza, and daily specials seven days a week while providing friendly service to both local residents and visitors.

Job Duties

  • Prepare and cook complete meals from the menu
  • Prepare breakfast, lunch and dinner items
  • Prepare homemade pizza and daily specials
  • Ensure food quality and presentation standards are met
  • Maintain food safety and sanitation standards
  • Assist with inventory and stock rotation
  • Keep kitchen clean and organized
  • Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Train kitchen helpers when required
  • Assist with opening and closing duties

Requirements

  • Completion of secondary school
  • Previous commercial cooking experience is an asset
  • Food Safety Certification is an asset
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends
  • Reliable transportation
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills

  • Follow proper food handling procedures to uphold safety regulations and prevent cross-contamination
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure consistency and quality in every dish served
  • Support the overall cleanliness of the kitchen, including equipment maintenance and waste disposal

Requirements

  • Previous food service or restaurant experience preferred; familiarity with kitchen operations is a plus
  • Knowledge of food preparation techniques, cooking methods, and food safety standards
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and work efficiently in a high-energy environment
  • Strong understanding of serving protocols and customer service principles
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness, safety, and hygiene in the kitchen
  • Willingness to learn new skills and adapt quickly to changing priorities within the kitchen setting

Pay: From $18.00 per hour
