Welcome to Base31!

We are excited to announce we have a fourteen (14) month contract available for our Director of Programming & Events. This is a great opportunity for someone who is looking to join the Base31 team in an important and impactful role, leading strategic planning and execution of concerts, public programs, and third-party events across Base31’s many venues.

This role oversees large-scale event operations, front-of-house staffing models, guest experience quality, safety standards, and cross-site activation. In this role you play a critical part in shaping the programming roadmap, ensuring operational feasibility, and stewarding the financial performance of the event delivery model.

You will be part of a great team, working collaboratively with Marketing, Visitor Experience, Food + Beverage, Site Operations, and Finance to deliver exceptional programs, support a cross-functional strategic plan, and focus on meeting organizational goals.The Director of Programming and Events leads a multidisciplinary team, who are highly skilled and manage all front of house programming.

The Director serves as a senior representative of Base31 with promoters, artists, producers, local tourism leaders, and event partners, with a focus on championing our vision at a high level, and responsibility to provide an exceptional experience in all aspects of stakeholder engagement, that is safe and always memorable.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Program Development

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive annual programming and event services strategy aligned with organizational objectives, revenue targets, budget and brand positioning.
  • Oversee the design, planning, and profitability of all events, ensuring alignment with Base31’s vision and visitor experience standards.
  • Lead the launch and growth of Base31 Event Services over time, establishing scalable systems and processes for long-term success.
  • Drive innovation in event design, sustainability practices, and customer engagement to enhance Base31’s competitive advantage.
  • This is a dynamic, high-impact leadership role requiring strategic thinking, operational expertise, and a commitment to innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Operational Excellence

  • Establish and enforce operational policies, event execution, and a high-quality standard for all events and stakeholder experiences across multiple venues.
  • Leadership of the operational roadmap for concerts, third-party events, public activations, and weekday programming - ensuring operational feasibility, resource planning, and readiness.
  • Weekly programming innovation and support with a focus on events, and third-party viability strategies
  • Utilize and optimize technology platforms, including CRM systems, ticketing platforms, and event management tools.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices for security, health & safety, accessibility, and sustainability.
  • External engagement with stakeholders Team Leadership & Talent Development
  • Build and lead a high-performing team, including full-time, part-time, and seasonal staff, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Departmental calendar creation with a focus on deliverables and timeline
  • Alignment with revenue strategies, and budget management.
  • Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities to managers and frontline staff.
  • Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives within the team and across event operations. Organizational Impact
  • Serve as a key member of Base31’s leadership team, contributing to organizational strategy, culture, and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Ownership of event execution standards, FOH operations, staffing structures, safety systems, and guest experience outcomes across all venues.
  • Represent Base31 as a senior leader in external engagements, partnerships, and industry forums.
  • Setting the way for standardized models, SOPs, risk management assessment, new ways of working, development of frameworks, and right-sizing our projects with our site.

Stakeholder & Community Engagement

  • Cultivate strategic relationships with partners, vendors, and stakeholders within the PEC tourism and event economy.
  • Act as an ambassador for Base31, strengthening its reputation and influence in the regional and national event landscape.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Post-Secondary and or University Degree Preferred
  • Prior Leadership Experience min 3-5 years
  • Similar roles held or transferable skills
  • Must be willing to submit a CPIC
  • Available for evenings and weekends
