Experienced Cook - Camosun College (Interurban & Lansdowne Campuses)

Aramark Canada is currently seeking experienced and passionate Cooks to join our culinary team at Camosun College's Interurban and Lansdowne campuses in Victoria, BC.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic campus environment serving students, faculty, staff, and guests. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about food, committed to delivering exceptional quality, and thrive in a fast-paced food service operation.

As a Cook, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking food according to established recipes, production standards, and food safety requirements. Successful candidates will have strong culinary skills, experience working in high-volume food service environments, and a commitment to providing excellent customer service.

We currently have full-time and part-time opportunities available for the Fall and Winter semesters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook food according to standardized recipes and production guidelines
  • Set up workstations with all required ingredients, supplies, and equipment
  • Measure, weigh, mix, chop, trim, and prepare ingredients for service
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely, including ovens, grills, fryers, mixers, slicers, steamers, and broilers
  • Utilize a variety of cooking techniques, including baking, roasting, grilling, steaming, sautéing, and frying
  • Ensure food is properly portioned, garnished, and presented according to established standards
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, storage, and handling procedures
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen work areas, equipment, and utensils
  • Monitor product quality and ensure consistency throughout service
  • Assist with inventory management, stock rotation, and product storage
  • Provide outstanding customer service while maintaining a positive and professional attitude
  • Support the training and mentorship of team members when required
  • Adhere to all Aramark Canada health, safety, and security policies
  • Protect company assets and maintain a safe working environment
  • Complete additional duties as assigned

Qualifications & Skills

  • Previous experience as a Cook or in a similar culinary role is required
  • Experience in high-volume food service, campus dining, catering, or restaurant operations is considered an asset
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong understanding of food preparation techniques, cooking methods, and kitchen operations
  • Thorough knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and safe food handling procedures
  • Food Safety Certification is required
  • Ability to safely operate commercial kitchen equipment and use kitchen knives
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Basic mathematical and inventory management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Reliable, punctual, and dependable
  • Team-oriented with a positive attitude and strong work ethic

Physical Requirements

This role may require:

  • Extended periods of standing and walking
  • Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling products and equipment
  • Repetitive motions including chopping, stirring, and food preparation tasks
  • Working in both hot and cold kitchen environments
  • Wearing a uniform and appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
