PUBLIC HEALTH NURSE
TEMPORARY, FULL-TIME
Brantford-Brant
(Up to 18-month Contract)

About the position: The Public Health Nurse will be responsible for the provision of nursing interventions which promote and preserve the health of communities, families and individuals across the lifespan; functions as part of a multi-disciplinary team planning, developing, implementing and evaluating programs and services; uses principles of community development to identify health issues, advocates for policy change; applies innovative health promotion strategies to facilitate healthy living in the community.


Qualifications and Competencies:

  • BScN including preparation in public health nursing
  • Current registration with the Ontario College of Nurses
  • Experience in community-based service delivery
  • Self-starter demonstrating initiative and with the ability to take appropriate action/direction
  • Demonstrated knowledge and decision-making skills in health assessment, knowledge and understanding of the core functions and approaches of public health practice, strong project management skills
  • Experience working with Healthy Growth and Development and Healthy Babies Healthy Children programming is an asset.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team setting
  • Ability to provide non-judgmental and inclusive service to all clients
  • Masters level education is considered an asset
  • A valid Ontario driver’s license, with valid insurance and reliable vehicle access
  • Valid immunization status, in accordance with organizational requirements.

Compensation & Benefits:
  • Hourly wage range: $48.09/hour – $55.88/hour, 70 hours in a two-week period.
  • Benefits: Option to opt-in to the OMERS pension plan.

Terms of Employment:
Employment conditions in accordance with the ONA Brantford Nurses’ Collective Agreement.
