At Alstom, we understand transport networks and what moves people. From high-speed trains, metros, monorails, and trams, to turnkey systems, services, infrastructure, signalling and digital mobility, we offer our diverse customers the broadest portfolio in the industry. Could you be the full-time Commodity Buyer in Toronto, ON we’re looking for?

Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your procurement and supplier management expertise in a dynamic and impactful field. You’ll work alongside collaborative, innovative, and results-driven teammates.

You'll play a key role in shaping Alstom’s procurement strategies for Civil Works, ensuring supplier excellence, and driving value through strategic partnerships. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (engineering, project management, quality teams), negotiate contracts with suppliers, and oversee supplier performance to achieve Quality, Cost, Delivery & Technical (QCDT) objectives, and much more.

You’ll specifically take care of managing supplier contracts and executing procurement strategies, but also contribute to the development of innovative supplier solutions to differentiate Alstom in the market.

We’ll look to you for:

  • Leading the supplier selection process and managing supplier contracts from creation through execution.

  • Supporting project management for the Civil Works commodity and consolidating project needs.

  • Contributing to commodity strategy and supplier panel development.

  • Negotiating with top-tier suppliers in complex and challenging environments.

  • Monitoring procurement project QCDT and legal project evolution.

  • Ensuring on-time delivery and quality, particularly during ramp-up phases.

  • Building and maintaining strong supplier relationships while fostering innovation and performance improvements.

  • Managing supplier risks and implementing mitigation plans.

  • Promoting Alstom’s Code of Ethics and ensuring adherence to ethical procurement practices.

All about you

We value passion and attitude over experience. That’s why we don’t expect you to have every single skill. Instead, we’ve listed some that we think will help you succeed and grow in this role:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Purchasing or Engineering, or a related field.

  • 5 to 10 years of experience in the industry, with at least three years in purchasing roles.

  • Technical expertise and market knowledge of Civil Works or subcontractor management (preferred).

  • Strong interpersonal skills, including leadership, communication, and the ability to influence and convince stakeholders.

  • Experience working in a matrix environment and collaborating across functions.

  • Proficiency in negotiation and strategic vision development.

  • Fluency in English with an international mindset.

  • Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., GSI, ARIBA).

  • A results-oriented mindset with a commitment to delivering on objectives.

Things you’ll enjoy Join us on a life-long transformative journey – the rail industry is here to stay, so you can grow and develop new skills and experiences throughout your career. You’ll also:

  • Enjoy stability, challenges, and a long-term career free from boring daily routines.

  • Work with cutting-edge procurement processes and strategies.

  • Collaborate with transversal teams and supportive colleagues.

  • Contribute to innovative projects that shape the future of mobility.

  • Utilise our flexible and inclusive working environment.

  • Steer your career in whatever direction you choose across functions and countries.

  • Benefit from our investment in your development through award-winning learning opportunities.

  • Progress towards leadership roles or specialized procurement expertise.

  • Benefit from a fair and dynamic reward package that recognises your performance and potential, plus comprehensive and competitive social coverage (life, medical, pension).

Compensation

The expected compensation for this role is $80,000 – $110,000 CAD per year, plus benefits and eligibility for an annual performance bonus. Final compensation will be based on skills, experience, and internal equity.
