Medical Office Assistant (MOA) – Family Practice

Location: Surrey, BC
Employment Type: Full-time / Part-time
Compensation: Competitive, based on experience - Open to negotiation

About the Role

Generations Med Clinic is seeking an experienced, professional, and patient-focused Medical Office Assistant (MOA) to join our growing Family Practice team. We are looking for someone who is confident working independently in a busy primary care environment and who requires no training.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to perform the full scope of MOA duties independently, including but not limited to:

  • Patient reception and registration
  • Answering and directing telephone calls
  • Booking, rescheduling, and managing physician appointments
  • Managing physician schedules and recalls
  • EMR documentation and patient chart management
  • Processing referrals and specialist consultations
  • Managing incoming laboratory and imaging reports
  • Faxing, scanning, and electronic document management
  • Completing and processing requisitions and forms
  • Prescription renewal processing as directed by physicians
  • Managing physician inboxes and task lists
  • Coordinating follow-up appointments and patient recalls
  • Responding to patient inquiries professionally and courteously
  • Maintaining confidentiality and privacy in accordance with BC legislation
  • General administrative and clerical duties
  • Working collaboratively with physicians and the healthcare team
  • Billing ICBC/WCB/MSP/Private insurance companies/Private paymetns/Blue Cross

Minimum Requirements (Mandatory)

Please do not apply if you do not meet ALL of the following requirements:

  • Minimum 6 months of experience working as a Medical Office Assistant in a Family Practice clinic in British Columbia.
  • Minimum 6 months of hands-on experience using either Juno EMR or OSCAR EMR in a clinical setting.
  • Ability to independently perform the full duties of a Family Practice MOA with no supervision.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Fluent in Hindi/Urdu/Punjabi
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Professional, compassionate, and patient-centred attitude.
  • Strong computer and administrative skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.

  • A reference letter from a previous Family Practice clinic employer ON HIRE
