Job Overview

We are seeking a motivated and skilled Deck Builder to join our dynamic construction team! In this role, you will be responsible for designing, constructing, and installing high-quality decks that enhance outdoor living spaces. Your expertise will help transform ideas into beautiful, durable structures that meet client specifications and safety standards. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on diverse projects, utilize a wide range of construction skills, and contribute to creating inviting outdoor environments.

Duties

  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction plans to ensure accurate deck designs and layouts
  • Measure and mark locations for deck components with precision using hand tools and power tools
  • Frame decks using carpentry techniques, including framing with lumber and metal supports
  • Install decking materials such as wood, composite, or vinyl while ensuring proper alignment and finish quality
  • Operate heavy equipment safely for site preparation, including excavation and grading as needed
  • Apply finishing touches like caulking, painting, staining, or sealing to enhance durability and appearance
  • Collaborate with team members on concrete forming for footings and support posts, ensuring stability
  • Perform masonry or concrete finishing tasks for foundational elements of the deck structure
  • Install additional features such as stairs, railings, lighting fixtures, or built-in furniture to complete the project
  • Ensure all work complies with safety regulations and building codes throughout each phase of construction

Requirements

  • Proven experience in construction, carpentry, or related fields with a focus on outdoor structures like decks or patios
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings accurately
  • Proficiency with hand tools (hammers, saws, chisels), power tools (drills, saws), and heavy equipment operation when necessary
  • Knowledge of concrete forming, masonry, welding, electrical systems, plumbing, flooring installation, tile laying, cabinetry installation, restoration work, and construction painting is highly desirable
  • Strong understanding of construction estimating processes and material calculations
  • Familiarity with schematics related to electrical or plumbing systems used in outdoor structures
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail in measuring and layout tasks
  • Physical stamina to perform demanding tasks including lifting heavy materials and working at heights in various weather conditions
