Job Description
The Solutions Laboratory Specialist prepares reference standard solutions in accordance with established procedures and laboratory equipment. This role requires accurate bench work, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize tasks with guidance from senior team members or supervisors.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Comply with health, safety, and environmental requirements when handling chemicals
- Prepare and package organic reference standard solutions accurately and efficiently
- Perform precise weighing, dilution, and handling of solid, gas, and liquid materials
- Operate laboratory equipment and occasionally operate ampule sealing equipment
- Record activities in internal systems (IFS, Cedar Bay, FileMaker, ELN) in alignment with QMS
- Meet productivity targets and deadlines
- Apply proper handling and storage practices for chemicals and solutions
- Adapt to changing priorities
- Support team members as needed
- Develop proficiency in advanced solution preparation (e.g., volatile and semi-volatile systems)
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Candidates with either relevant education or experience are encouraged to apply.
- Bachelor of Science (Chemistry preferred) with 0–2 years of experience, or
- 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing, laboratory, or related environment.
- Ability to safely operate laboratory equipment.
- Basic understanding of chemical concepts and calculations for solution preparation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office for daily tasks.
- Familiarity with organic chemistry and laboratory or manufacturing environments is an asset.
Additional Information
Pay range for this role is:
Minimum: CAD $44,800 / yearly
Maximum: CAD $56,000 / yearly
The salary range provided covers the minimum and maximum amounts projected for this role. The base salary will be influenced by factors like experience, skills, and location.
