Job Summary

Cantronic Systems Canada inc. designs & manufactures advanced infrared thermal imaging, night vision, and optical gas imaging (OGI) systems for industrial, security, and defense applications.

We are seeking a Technical Specialist to support the integration, testing, operation, and troubleshooting of Optical Gas Imaging (OGI) cameras and MAVLink-compatible payloads.

This role combines infrared imaging, drones, camera systems, electronics, and customer technical support. The successful candidate will work with engineering teams and customers to integrate advanced camera payloads onto unmanned aerial systems and other remote sensing platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Configure, test, and troubleshoot OGI and infrared camera systems.
  • Integrate cameras and gimbals with MAVLink-compatible UAS platforms.
  • Support MAVLink Camera Protocol and payload control functions.
  • Configure systems using Mission Planner, QGroundControl, ArduPilot, and similar platforms.
  • Troubleshoot UART, Ethernet, HDMI, SDI, CAN, PWM, SBUS, and other interfaces.
  • Conduct bench testing, flight testing, and field demonstrations.
  • Analyze camera performance, MAVLink logs, video, and system data.
  • Assist with controlled gas-release testing and OGI sensitivity evaluations.
  • Provide technical support and training to customers.
  • Prepare testing procedures, technical documentation, and reports.

Qualifications

  • Diploma, degree, or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, Aerospace, Electronics, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with cameras, drones, robotics, sensors, or embedded systems.
  • Strong electronics and technical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams, pinouts, and technical documentation.
  • Comfortable working in laboratory and field environments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Experience

Experience with any of the following is considered an asset:

  • MAVLink / MAVLink Camera Protocol v2
  • ArduPilot, Mission Planner, or QGroundControl
  • Pixhawk or Cube flight controllers
  • Herelink or similar UAS controllers
  • Gremsy or other stabilized gimbals
  • OGI, thermal, MWIR, LWIR, or infrared cameras
  • Python, C/C++, MAVSDK, or pymavlink
  • UART, CAN, Ethernet, HDMI, SDI, PWM, or SBUS
  • Oil & gas inspection, methane detection, defence, aerospace, or remote sensing

Work Environment

The position includes a combination of laboratory integration, UAS testing, customer support, field demonstrations, and technical documentation. Some travel within Canada, the United States, and internationally may be required.

Pay: $45,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
