Full job description

No hiring: Residential Counsellor

Locations in Toronto and Etobicoke

Qualifications and nice to have:

  • VSC, CPR, and immunizations.
  • College Diploma in Addictions and Mental Health or equivalent qualification.
  • A combination of 3 years of work experience in the field of Mental Health, Substance Use, and/or Supportive Housing.
  • Expertise in providing supportive counselling and case management to individuals who are experiencing or have experienced a complex history of mental health concerns, and substance use.
  • Working knowledge of best practices in mental health, substance use, harm reduction, trauma and the therapeutic relationship.
  • Working knowledge of psycho-social rehabilitation and recovery principles.
  • Working knowledge of trauma-informed practice, women-centred principles and best practices for women and substance use.
  • Working knowledge of community resources such as health care.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in complex community settings.
  • Ability to use a range of technological tools, e.g. online reporting systems, videoconferencing etc.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal day-to-day supervision.
  • Crisis intervention skills, with well-developed problem-solving abilities and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent oral and writing skills.
  • First Aid/CPR certification.

Will take PSW who is computer proficient

Must be available for all shifts

  • Days, evenings, and nights
  • 9am - 5pm, 4pm - 2am, 12am - 10am

Must be available for weekends as most shifts will be Friday, Saturday, and Sundays.
