About the Opportunity

Our established transportation company is expanding into a new line of business: non-emergency stretcher transport services. We are looking for an experienced, driven professional to lead and build this division from the ground up.

This is a rare ground-floor opportunity — you won't be stepping into an existing team or process. You'll be building a teams and establishing the operating procedures, equipment, supplies, uniforms, training standards and daily routines required to deliver safe, reliable and professional stretcher transportation, while being backed by the resources and stability of an established company.

As this new business develops, the Manager will be expected to identify opportunities to improve the operation and help establish the foundation for future growth.

Key Responsibilities

Division Launch & Operational Development

• Design and lead the operational launch of the new stretcher transportation division.
• Establish practical procedures, standards, and checklists for daily operations.
• Monitor division performance and costs, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Recommend changes to equipment, processes, staffing, and service delivery as the operation grows.

Fleet, Equipment & Supply Management

• Oversee the daily readiness and operation of the stretcher vehicles.
• Ensure vehicles are clean, fueled, maintained, properly equipped, and ready for service.
• Coordinate vehicle maintenance, repairs, and preventative maintenance.
• Maintain stretchers, loading systems, restraints, wheelchairs, and other operational equipment, including standard and bariatric equipment.
• Maintain health monitoring and passenger-care equipment, ensuring inspections, servicing, calibration, documentation, and regulatory compliance requirements are current.
• Establish and maintain inventories of linens, PPE, cleaning products, uniforms, and other operational supplies.

Safety, Compliance & Quality Assurance

• Establish vehicle cleaning, disinfection, and infection-control practices.
• Ensure safe stretcher handling, passenger transfers, securement, and transportation practices are consistently followed, including procedures for bariatric passengers.
• Maintain required inspections, records, and operational documentation.

Leadership & Staff Development

• Provide day-to-day leadership to stretcher drivers and attendants.
• Establish onboarding, training, and field-performance expectations for new employees.
• Provide hands-on operational and field support as required.

Customer Service & Problem Resolution

• Address operational issues, incidents, equipment failures, and customer concerns in a timely and professional manner.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience working in a fast-paced healthcare, emergency medical services, patient transport, or related environment.
• Solid understanding of healthcare compliance requirements, patient safety standards, and applicable transportation regulations.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and decision-making skills, with the ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with the discipline and strategic focus required to build scalable, sustainable operations.
• Flexibility to work varying schedules as needed to support the launch, growth, and ongoing success of a new division.
• Valid First Responder Certification, AEMCA, Paramedic Diploma, or Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) Certification.
• Up to date immunization records and can provide the following records of: MMR, DPT, Polio, Varicella, Hepatitis B, COVID-19 (2 doses), TB Skin Test (Step 1) *must be valid within last 12 month.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or CPR-HCP certification.
• Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
• Valid Class G driver's licence with a satisfactory driving abstract.
• Ability to safely lift and move patients weighing 250+ lbs. using a stretcher or stair chair in coordination with a partner.
• Strong hands-on problem-solving, planning, and organizational abilities.
• Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, and continuously improve operational processes and procedures.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
• Comfortable working autonomously and taking ownership of operational objectives in a start-up or growth environment.
• Proven ability to lead frontline employees, foster team engagement, and build strong relationships with customers and stakeholders.
