Team
- Willingness to accept the most effective role.
- Compliance & Auditing: Enforce and monitor adherence to the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), maintaining comprehensive records and statistics.
- Hazard Mitigation: Conduct routine workplace inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations to identify hazards and implement corrective measures.
- Committee Support: Facilitate and advise the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC), ensuring meaningful worker participation and legislative compliance.
- Training & Education: Design and deliver in-house safety training and promote a proactive, continuous improvement in safety culture
- Case Management: Oversee occupational (WSIB) and non-occupational illness or injury claims, bridging the gap between employees, management, and healthcare providers.
- Accommodations: Assess medical restrictions and functional abilities to design, implement, and monitor gradual return-to-work and modified-duty plans.
- Legal Compliance: Ensure modified work programs align with the Ontario Human Rights Code (Duty to Accommodate) and the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, 1997.
- Dispute Resolution: Negotiate and mediate return-to-work challenges to overcome operational or personal barriers, ensuring sustainable outcomes
Guest
- Ensure guests are greeted and acknowledged consistently, adhering to the 10/5 Rule.
- Greet and assist external guests; ensure they are welcomed and escorted to the HR department from external entrances.
- Communicate with guests in a professional and friendly manner.
Financial
- Protecting company assets by adhearing to policies and procedures.
- Manages workers’ compensation costs to lower premiums and reduced long-term liability.
- Design cost-efficient return to work plans to ensure pack members return safely and quickly
- Analyse workplace incidents and near-misses to reduce injury-related costs, legal fees or fines and penalities.
Qualifications & Traits
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Occupational Health & Safety, or related field.
- Legislative Knowledge: Strong, applied knowledge of the OHSA, WSIB policies, and the Ontario Human Rights Code.
- 1–2 years of experience in overseeing WSIB claims, RTW programs and workplace safety in Ontario
- Strong time management and multitasking abilities, with flexibility to support unexpected tasks or projects.
- Keen attention to detail with the ability to accurately proofread documents.
- Solid understanding of employment legislation and HR processes, with the ability to clearly communicate information to Pack Members and external inquiries.
- Exceptional verbal and interpersonal communication skills; able to provide clear, positive, and professional responses.
- Proficient using Canva and Microsoft Office applications, including Microsoft Office applications..
- Strong knowledge of WSIA, WSIB policies and claim processes, OHSA and Ontario Human Rights Code (duty to accommodate)
- Experience in hospitality, tourism, or multi-department operations in an asset.
- Experience with HRIS platforms, particularly ADP Workforce Now, is considered an asset.
- Flexible to work weekends and holidays as needed.
Physical Requirements
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds and able to sit and/or stand for long periods of time.
Additional Requirements
Newly hired Pack Members must submit a completed police clearance to Human Resources. Employment may begin before the results are received, based on the Pack Member’s confirmation that they have no unpardoned criminal convictions. If the clearance reveals a conviction, the employer may terminate employment on a case-by-case basis, providing only the minimum notice required under the Employment Standards Act, 2000, with no additional notice or compensation.
