Role and Facility Information

Northern Health is currently recruiting for two Diagnostic/Interventional Radiologists in Prince George, British Columbia to join a robust team of 7 radiologists and support staff at the University Hospital of Northern BC. This would be in the form of a hybrid job plan which includes remote work that is negotiable with the radiologist applying. There is the opportunity for full and part time work. Radiology services at UHNBC include:

  • Breast Imaging Centre with tomosynthesis mammography
  • Ultrasound
  • MRI 1.5 Tesla Siemens
  • CT scanners multi detector/multi slice/Dual energy
  • Nuclear Medicine
  • Interventional Radiology
  • Outreach services to GR Baker Memorial Hospital in Quesnel – approx. 1 day of travel every 2-3 months

The work would be a 70/30% split of Diagnostic/Interventional radiology. We perform a wide range of image-guided procedures, including vascular and nonvascular interventions, biopsies, drainages and spine interventions. Vascular work is inclusive of, but not limited to, arterial and venous recanalization, angioplasty and stenting, vascular access for dialysis and fistula interventions. IVUS is also available in addition to catheter directed thrombolysis for arterial and venous thrombosis. Development of an oncology program is in progress. Candidates with experience or an interest in program development would be an asset. There is no call service for Interventional radiology.

Prospective radiologists should be comfortable with general radiology, including Fluoroscopy, ultrasound, CT and MRI. A fellowship is not a necessity. We are open to retraining candidates in some areas of radiology practice they are less comfortable with on the job if they are motivated.

Candidates should be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia, ideally holding FRCPC designation.

Northern Health offers a strong compensation package for travel and accommodation for new hires and flexible vacation scheduling.

Call: Diagnostic call responsibilities are split between the group members.

UHNBC is the Regional Hospital for Northern BC serving the population of Prince George (approx.. 87,000) and is a referral center for outlying communities (total population approx.. 400,000). It is the main teaching center for Medical Students in the Northern Medical Program of UBC and provides teaching for UBC Residents in several specialties. The BC Cancer Centre for the North is located on the hospital site and includes radiation and medical oncology. The ongoing development of UHNBC as a regional center and teaching center makes this an exciting time to join the medical community in Prince George.
