Full job description

Interior Dermatology Centre is a team-based, dermatologist-led specialty clinic in Kelowna, British Columbia. Our clinic brings together Royal College-certified dermatologists, family physicians with a focused interest in dermatology, clinical research staff, nurses, and administrative professionals to support high-quality medical dermatology care for patients throughout the Interior Health region.

We are seeking a family physician with a focused interest in medical dermatology to join our growing team. This opportunity may be well suited to a physician who has completed, or is in the process of completing, additional dermatology-focused training and is interested in developing a focused medical dermatology practice within a specialist-led clinic environment.

This is primarily a medical dermatology role. The successful candidate should have a genuine interest in skin disease management, lesion assessment, procedural medical dermatology, chronic inflammatory skin conditions, and team-based specialty care.

About the Role

The Physician would provide care to patients with dermatologic concerns that fall within their training, experience, and comfort level. The role would be supported by IDC’s dermatologist-led clinical model, with opportunities for mentorship, case discussion, and referral or escalation to a dermatologist when appropriate.

The exact scope of practice would depend on the physician’s background, dermatology training, procedural experience, clinical judgment, and the clinic’s clinical governance structure.

Potential areas of involvement may include:

  • Assessment and management of common medical dermatology concerns
  • Follow-up care for selected dermatologic conditions
  • Longitudinal care for chronic inflammatory skin disease
  • Skin lesion assessment
  • Minor office-based procedures, where appropriate
  • Collaboration with dermatologists, nurses, clinical research coordinators, and administrative staff
  • Participation in team-based clinic workflows focused on quality, continuity, and patient-centred care
  • Potential involvement in clinical trials, depending on experience, interest, and suitability

This is not a traditional full-scope family practice role, walk-in clinic role, or cosmetic medicine position.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a thoughtful, patient-centred physician who is interested in building a focused practice in medical dermatology within a team-based specialty clinic.

The ideal candidate may have:

  • Licensure or eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia
  • Certification in Family Medicine, or equivalent Canadian-recognized training
  • Completed, or be pursuing, additional dermatology-focused training
  • A strong interest in medical dermatology and skin disease management
  • Sound clinical judgment and awareness of scope boundaries
  • Interest in lesion assessment, procedural dermatology, and chronic inflammatory skin disease
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Comfort working within a structured, collaborative clinic environment
  • Interest in clinical research would be considered an asset

Previous dermatology experience is an asset, but the right fit, clinical judgment, and genuine interest in medical dermatology are equally important.

Practice Environment

Interior Dermatology Centre is a busy, well-established specialty clinic with a strong referral base and a collaborative team culture. Our clinic includes medical dermatology, cosmetic dermatology, clinical trials, and specialty-focused services.

The role is designed for a physician who values thoughtful, well-supported medical dermatology care within a collaborative specialist clinic environment.

Why This Opportunity May Be a Good Fit

This role may appeal to a physician who is looking to:

  • Develop a focused area of practice in medical dermatology
  • Work within a dermatologist-led clinical environment
  • Move away from traditional full-scope family practice
  • Build skill in skin disease management and procedural care
  • Participate in a team-based specialty clinic model
  • Contribute to high-quality patient care in a specialty clinic setting
  • Explore involvement in clinical trials and research-supported care
  • Practise in Kelowna, one of British Columbia’s most desirable communities

Location

Kelowna offers an exceptional lifestyle with access to lakes, wineries, skiing, hiking, biking, and a growing professional community. Interior Dermatology Centre serves patients from Kelowna and the broader Interior Health region.

Compensation and Schedule

Compensation model, schedule, start date, and clinical scope are flexible and would be discussed based on the candidate’s experience, training, interests, and desired practice structure.

Part-time, full-time, or gradual transition options may be considered for the right candidate.

How to Apply

Interested candidates are invited to submit a CV and brief letter of interest outlining their background, dermatology-related training or experience, clinical interests, and reason for interest in a focused medical dermatology role.

Job Types: Part-time, Full-time

Pay: $115,000.00-$400,000.00 per year
