Ward Clerk

Casual - Immediate start date once onboarding is complete

Hourly Wage (commensurate with experience) - $23.91-29.89

Under the direction of the Clinical Manager, the Ward Clerk/Unit Assistant provides organizational, administrative and clerical support to the clinical unit. They maintain and ensure the confidentiality of clinical files and patient charts and updates related administrative records. The Ward Clerk/Unit Assistant works collaboratively with the interprofessional team to facilitate effective, efficient and accurate communication with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal quality of care for our patients. The work of the Ward Clerk/Unit Assistant is typically diverse, advanced and may be time-sensitive.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Providing general clerical support to the Clinical Manager, Clinical Supervisor, Clinical Leaders and physicians
  • Performing reception functions on the unit
  • Ordering clinical supplies and equipment and managing inventory
  • Booking appointments for patients and arranging transportation as required
  • Handling records retention and archiving functions
  • Data collection and reporting for Quality Improvement

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary diploma in Office Administration, Medical Office Administration, or related field
  • Secondary School Graduation Diploma
  • Excellent organizational, communications and interpersonal skills are essential
  • Ward Clerk/Unit Assistant experience in hospital (preferably) or long term care environments is a definite asset
  • Proven computer skills and experience with PointClickCare, Excel, and Word are definite assets
