The Department of Pharmacology & Therapeutics (DPT), School of Biomedical Sciences invites applications for a full-time probationary position at the rank of Instructor I or II, commencing September 1, 2026, or on a mutually agreed upon date. In accordance with the University of Manitoba Faculty Association (UMFA) collective agreement, the successful candidate can expect to transition to a permanent continuing appointment upon satisfactory completion of the probationary period. Salary and rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

The Department seeks an emerging scholar with a commitment to excellence in teaching and pedagogical development. The successful candidate will hold a Master’s degree in pharmacology or a related discipline, have substantial postsecondary teaching experience, and be able to thrive in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment. Assets include experience teaching pharmacology and therapeutics across a wide range of biomedical and professional programs, formal training and/or certification in education, a demonstrated commitment to evidence-based pedagogical innovation, a record of community educational outreach, and a PhD or equivalent terminal degree in pharmacology or a related discipline.

The appointee will teach in undergraduate and graduate courses taught by DPT across 5 RFHS colleges. Duties will primarily include teaching, assessment, coordination, curriculum design and driving innovation and quality control in pedagogy. The position also requires development of a professional service portfolio, which could consist of committee work, leadership and other service to the profession, community and home units of the University of Manitoba.

The Rady Faculty of Health Sciences (RFHS) is a major center of interdisciplinary health sciences education and research in Canada, offering a full range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs in biomedical sciences and health professions. DPT currently has 16 full-time faculty and has a rich history of excellence in research and education in biomedical and clinical pharmacology and is committed to providing high quality programming at the graduate and undergraduate levels across all RFHS colleges. DPT also contributes heavily to undergraduate programming in the Faculty of Science (BSc) and the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences BHSc curriculum.
