Full job description
Do you enjoy building your skills while making a meaningful contribution to impactful work? Are you motivated by clear direction, structured tasks, and the opportunity to apply your technical knowledge in a practical way? Our Chalk River location is looking for an External Dosimetry Technologist to contribute to CNL’s objectives through hands-on experience with well-defined assignments. If you answered yes, then this may be the job for you!
What will you be doing!
- Setting up work areas, including equipment for surveys, experiments, tests, and analysis.
- Conducting experiments and tests; recording, organizing and analyzing observations and suggesting conclusions.
- Making calculations and preparing charts, graphs and other supporting data for reports.
- Completing safety assessments and work permits where qualified.
- Ensuring procedures and processes are maintained for routine operations.
- Executing dosimetry methods as required to fulfill customer service requirements and expectations. Other duties as assigned by your manager.
What we are looking for:
- Education
- Graduation from a recognized institute of advanced technology in a field relevant to the position, OR equivalent formal education OR Secondary School Graduation Diploma or equivalent and has more than 3 years pertinent experience or the equivalent in experience, additional education and/or training.
- Experience
- Experience with the use of generic laboratory tools to maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and ability to learn new software.
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Demonstrated sound judgment, possessing a keen sense of responsibility, and is reliable and thorough in carrying out duties.
- Skilled in analytical and problem-solving.
- Ability to collaborate with colleagues and customers effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain records.
- Security Clearance Eligibility Required
- Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
Working Conditions:
- Working schedule: Five (5) days per week, seven and a half (7.5) hours per day for a thirty-seven and a half (37.5) hour work week.
- This position is part of the USW 1568 Union and is governed by the terms and conditions outlined in the USW 1568 Collective Agreement. As a member of this bargaining unit, you’ll benefit from clear expectations around hours of work, wages, vacation, and other conditions that support a fair and consistent working environment.
- Building office/laboratory environment.
