Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Student Optician to join our dynamic optical team. This entry-level position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in developing a career in eye care and optical retail. The Student Optician will support optical operations, assist customers, and gain valuable hands-on experience in a professional setting. Ideal candidates are eager to learn, possess strong communication skills, and have an interest in the healthcare and retail industries.

Duties

  • Assist with the fitting, adjusting, and dispensing of eyewear to ensure proper fit and comfort
  • Support licensed opticians with lens ordering and frame selection
  • Prepare eyewear for delivery by verifying prescriptions and ensuring quality standards are met
  • Provide exceptional customer service by answering questions about eyewear options and lens features
  • Maintain optical equipment, tools, and display areas in an organized manner
  • Learn to interpret medical terminology related to eye care and prescriptions
  • Support laboratory tasks such as lens cutting or assembly as needed under supervision
  • Assist with retail sales activities, including inventory management and merchandising
  • Gain exposure to electronic health record systems such as Epic for patient documentation

Requirements

  • Strong interest in optical care, healthcare, or retail sales industries
  • Basic understanding of medical terminology is preferred but not required; willingness to learn is essential
  • Previous laboratory or optical experience is a plus but not mandatory; training will be provided
  • Experience in retail sales or customer service is advantageous
  • Ability to work well within a team environment while demonstrating professionalism
