Accounting Manager

Job Summary:

The Accounting Manager is responsible for developing and implementing systems for collecting, analyzing, verifying, and reporting financial information and managing staff. This role is responsible for all areas relating to accounting functions and financial reporting. This position will be responsible for daily, weekly, and monthly accounting tasks and activities and make recommendations for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

· Apply a thorough understanding of the financial reports and general ledger structure.

· Manage and oversee the daily activities of the accounting department and ensure that all major projects, month-end, quarter-end, and year-end reports are completed accurately and on time.

· Apply and enforce proper accounting methods.

· Prepare and/or review appropriate ledger entries and reconciliations.

· Review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

· Advise staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions.

· Interface with other departments to verify transaction report data and various accounting issues that might arise.

· Accomplish accounting and organization mission by completing related tasks, as needed, through evaluation and suggested improvements to internal accounting processes.

· Work with direct reports to establish yearly performance goals and objectives. Monitor and advise on the progress to enhance the professional development of staff and provide training for new and existing staff as needed.

· Work with retained CPA firm to ensure a clean and timely year-end audit and ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met, including quarterly reviews and month-end close procedures.

· Manage special projects.

· Payroll duties as assigned

Job Qualifications:

· 5+ years of experience as an Accounting Manager and experience in a large corporate accounting department and public accounting.

· Excellent leadership and communications skills.

· Ability to manipulate large amounts of data.

· Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

· Strong proficiencies with Microsoft Office applications, including intermediate to advanced level in Excel to perform pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and high-level functions and formulas.

· Intermediate to advanced knowledge of major accounting software packages. JD Edwards preferred.

· Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, meet deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced work environment.

· Ability to learn fast and take on new tasks with a high level of difficulty.

· Excellent verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills.

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team, including leading team projects.

· Knowledge of JDE and SAP

· Knowledge of full-cycle payroll and reporting.

Education:

· Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent.

· Active CPA or per suing CPA is preferred.
