Full job description

The position of Chemical Lab Analyst's responsibility includes, but is not limited to, performing a variety of laboratory tests and experiments to identify, measure, and analyze chemical compounds. Using HPLC, GC, GC-MS, LC-MS/MS, UV, AA, IR, DSC and ICP to do the chemical analysis to ensure the properties of raw materials, the intermediate stages of the technological processes, and the finished products comply with all aspects of GMP – as required by the Canadian Food and Drugs Act and supporting regulations.

Responsibilities and Duties:

- Familiarity with lab equipment (e.g. HPLC, GC, GC-MS, LC-MS/MS, UV, AA, IR, DSC and ICP) and instruments.

- Perform routine chemical and physical testing of pharmaceutical and nutraceutical formulations. Ensure all analytical results and documentation are of high quality along with data integrity trace ability requirements.

- Perform testing in accordance with assigned protocols, methods, or procedures.

- Review and prepare routine technical documents as directed by the QC Manager.

- Independently plans and performs analytical tasks according to priorities assigned by the QC Manager.

- Regularly update the QC Manager on test results, delays, problems, and process improvement recommendations.- Supervise laboratory technicians on how to proceed with analytical tests.

- Critically review own data and recommend further action.- Performs other duties as requested by Senior Management.

Preferred Qualifications and/or Experiences:

- An appropriate combination of advanced university education in an applicable discipline ofscience in Chemistry or specific medical training (pharmacology, pharmacokinetics, nutritional research or related).

- Three or more years of laboratory experience in the pharmaceutical/nutraceutical or relatedindustries would be considered an asset.

- Advanced knowledge/understanding of GMP and the US FDA guidelines for manufacturing/packaging of pharmaceutical/nutraceutical products.

Work setting: Full Time, Monday – Friday, 08:30 – 17:00
