Your Opportunity!

Reporting to the Food and Nutrition Manager, the Cook will follow established policies, procedures and standards. This position prepares and serves food for the residents, including the more complex meal preparation for the Home as required. As part of this dietary team the cook will ensure a focus on sound nutritional practices while following dietetic professional practice standards

Key Responsibilities and Skills

  • Prepare meals according to posted menus
  • Assist with meal service and support resident preferences
  • Maintain clean, sanitary food-handling practices
  • Support inventory control, ordering, and waste reduction
  • Assist with orientation of new dietary staff
  • Follow MOHLTC and Public Health requirements

Qualifications

  • Chef Training or Culinary Management diploma
  • Recent Vulnerable Sector Screening (within 6 months)
  • Step 2 Tuberculosis Test (completed with 6 months)
  • Strong written and spoken English communication skills
  • Experience in food services
  • LTC/senior care experience an asset
  • Proof of full immunization (2 doses) against COVID-19
