  • Review and challenge GP valuations and NAVs; prepare supporting analysis and recommendations for the internal valuation governance process and Level 3 reporting.
  • Oversee the calculation and review of management fee and carried interest accruals across the private markets portfolio to ensure accuracy.
  • Manage the working relationships with Investments team, GPs, fund administrators, and the custodians on operational and accounting matters.
  • Partner with the Operational Due Diligence and Investment teams on the onboarding of new private market investments, including account openings, KYC/FATCA/CRS documentation, and data requirements.
  • Develop, document, and maintain policies, procedures, controls and governance documentation for the private markets operations function.
  • Identify and lead process improvement and automation initiatives to enhance scalability, data integrity, and control effectiveness.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop junior team members, supporting the broader team culture.

To Succeed, You Bring:

  • A minimum of six (6) to eight (8) years of progressive experience in investment accounting, investment operations, or middle/back-office functions supporting private markets portfolios at a pension plan, institutional asset manager, custodian, or professional services firm.
  • University degree in accounting, finance, or business administration; a professional designation (CPA, CFA, CBV, or CAIA) is strongly preferred.
  • A deep understanding of private markets instruments, fund structures, and accepted valuation methodologies, combined with hands-on experience supporting transaction operations for an investment portfolio.
  • Ability to critically assess and challenge GP NAVs and valuation marks, and to prepare defensible supporting analysis for internal valuation governance and audit.
  • Working knowledge of fund waterfalls, carried interest, and management fee calculations, including side letters and preferred return mechanics.
  • Prior experience coaching, mentoring, and providing direct review of junior staff, including direct people-management experience, with the ability to lead and motivate a team, develop talent, and drive results.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to deliver under multiple competing priorities; exceptional problem-solving and sound decision-making practices; strong operational risk awareness with the ability to identify issues, recommend solutions, and strengthen internal controls and processes.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with the proven ability to build and foster relationships with key stakeholders; interest in exploring new technologies and leveraging AI, automation, and process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and scalability.
