Full job description

Medical Office Assistant (MOA) position is available in a medical clinic in Downtown Vancouver.

Duties:

You would be responsible for performing a variety of medical secretarial duties such as:

Book appointments, scheduling and confirming patient appointments;

Greet patients and obtain necessary information for patients' records, registering patients on arrival and updating demographic information, check patients in and out of the office.

Respond to patient request for help and/or information, replying phone calls and electronic messages, take messages, transfer calls and provide information to doctor upon request,

Responding back to emails in a timely and professional manner.
Assist doctors with patients by performing preliminary exams; such as blood pressure, patient’s height and weight, perform urine testing, and pregnant test if required and record in EMR.
Processing referrals, consultations, follow-ups and hospital bookings;
Following up with specialist regarding appointment times and dates and then notifying.
Scanning reports, faxing, and photocopying, uploading faxes and scans to patients’ electronic charts.
Receive payments for patient services and provide receipt.
Completing tasks sent through EMR
Preparing and cleaning rooms and equipment for examinations and procedures

Bringing patients into exam rooms
Prepare and stock medical/office supplies

Cleaning and collecting garbage

Opening and closing the clinic as required

Qualifications:

Canadian Citizen

Availability on weekends

English proficiency is a key. Candidate should be completely fluent in English both verbal and written

Ability to work fast with computer and EMR
1-2 years of experience working in a medical office (preferred)

Customer service skills

To be able to handle difficult situations, like angry patients, efficiently and in a calmly manner
Maintains confidentiality of patients and clinic
Responsible, respectful, flexible and professional, great communication skills
