ROLE SUMMARY:

The Food Service Worker performs a variety of food services duties such as portioning and serving food, tea, coffee and toast, and cleaning and sanitizing work areas according to established procedures, standards and operational requirements; laundry duties using domestic washer and dryer.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Assembles food items at workstation, including, positioning and operating equipment. Portions out and serves food and beverages for residents

2. Prepares food items, including counting, weighing or measuring as appropriate, such as fruits, vegetables, tea, coffee and toast. Washes, peels, trims, pares, cuts, slices and stores vegetables and fruit as required.

3. Sets up and delivers meal trays and or/ or supply carts to residents and dining areas, and picks up as assigned.

4. Dismantles workstation, puts away food, supplies and equipment, wash equipment and cleans up area. Stock service area, discarding items beyond expiry date, and replenishes supplies as required.

5. Operates dispensing machines. Puts away and brings out supplies as required.

6. Assembles such items as salads and sandwiches.

7. Performs clerical duties such as writing information on menu cards and checking cards against lists.

8. Washes dishes, wares, utensils and equipment as required. Operates dishwashing and/ or pot washing machines and equipment. Spot washes walls and splash areas. Removes garbage and recycling as required. Cleans and sanitizes dining and server area, equipment, dishes and wares. Sweeping and damp mopping floors in dining and server areas.

9. Sorts, folds, counts and records linen for control purposes.

10. Loads and unloads domestic washers and dryers, operates same by selecting wash cycles, setting temperatures and switching machines on and off.

11. Loads and unloads tumblers, conditioners, and extractors.

12. Performs other related duties as required

ROLE SUMMARY:

Using a variety of specialized equipment, tools and machines, performs cleaning duties, such as dusting, vacuuming, shampooing, washing, mopping, striping, polishing and wiping; makes beds and empties garbage in accordance with established policies and procedures

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Cleans walls, woodwork, shelves, surfaces, windows, stairs, walkways and floors in all areas, by methods such as sweeping, vacuuming, and washing, scrubbing, mopping, stripping, sealing, waxing, buffing and polishing.

2. Cleans and disinfects toilets, tubs and showers by methods such as washing, wiping and polishing, and replenishes supplies such as soap, towels and toilet tissue.

3. Cleans furnishings and fixtures, such as chairs, beds, blinds, cupboards, lockers, by methods such as dusting, polishing, washing and wiping.

4. Cleans equipment, such as stretchers, tables, commodes, trolleys, carts, and wheelchairs, by methods such as washing, wiping, and including steam cleaning as required.

5. Strips and makes beds.

6. Hangs and removes drapes and curtains.

7. Collects and disposes of waste material and cleans receptacles, carts and containers.

8. Performs routine inspections to ensure cleaning equipment and machines are operating efficiently and safely. Replaces components such as pads, filters and bags, as required. Maintains documentation including recommending repair or replacement by completing maintenance requisition and sends to supervisor.

9. Locks Windows and doors in accordance with security procedures.

10. Uses and handles a variety of cleaning supplies and materials in accordance with Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) regulations. Maintains stocks of cleaning supplies and materials in accordance with established procedures.

11. Transports and move furniture and/ or equipment manually or by using various aides such as dollies or carts.

12. Ensures a safe and healthy working environment by observing universal (standard) precautions and infection control procedures; removing obvious hazards; reporting faulty equipment, accidents, injuries and near misses; and adhering to and enforcing rules regarding safety.

13. Clears snow and applies salt to walkways and building entrances as required.

14. Performs other related duties as assigned.

ROLE SUMMARY:

Positions at this level performs laundry duties including sorting, folding and delivering linen and operating non-domestic washers and dryers as well as mending torn or worn articles such as linen and clothing.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Loads and unloads non-domestic washers and dryers and operates same by selecting temperatures, switching on and off machine and determining length of drying cycle.

2. Weighs, sorts, folds, counts and records linen for control purposes.

3. Stocks linen carts and transports carts to nursing units as required.

4. Labels, hangs and/or folds residents' personal clothing.

5. Mends torn or worn linen as necessary by using sewing machine.

6. Maintains a clean and tidy working environment and disinfects bins and equipment. Inspects and cleans drains and lint traps

7. Labels resident personal and facility laundry as directed.

8. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Job Type: Casual

Pay: $25.82-$26.80 per hour

Licence/Certification:

• Food Handler Certification (preferred)
