JOB SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Director of Housekeeping
Executive Housekeeper is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the housekeeping department, including Room Attendants, Turndown Attendants, Uniform Attendants, Housepersons, Supervisors/ Assistant Managers. This role ensures all guest rooms, public areas, colleague spaces, and back-of-house areas are maintained to the highest luxury hospitality standards.
This position works closely with the Director of Housekeeping to execute departmental operations successfully, enhance guest and colleague satisfaction, uphold Forbes Five-Star standards, and maximize departmental efficiency. The role is also responsible for conducting inspections, identifying operational opportunities, and implementing action plans to continuously improve service excellence.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Housekeeping and Budget Management:
- Ensures compliance with all housekeeping policies, standards and procedures. Able to create or reestablish policies under the guidance of the Director of Housekeeping, People and Culture and the General Manager.
- Understands the importance of the department’s operation on the overall property financial goals and educates team on the details as needed.
- Reviews staffing levels to ensure the guest service, operational needs and financial objectives are met and schedule is posted every Thursday.
- Highlight and address any deficiencies of the rooms, interior, exterior building and loading dock. Consistently ensure that the cleanliness levels are maintained and the relevant departments are communicated to.
- Oversee and ensures that the departments Inventory levels (general, linen and minibar) are adequately maintained.
- Supervises an effective inspection program for all guestrooms and public spaces.
- Inspect and audit rooms as an when required along with the Supervisors.
- Ensures all colleagues have the proper supplies, equipment and uniforms.
- Communicates areas that need attention to team and follows up to ensure understanding.
- Ensure that the Supervisors/Asst. Managers approve all punch in and outs at the end of Opening and Closing of each shift.
- Overlook Supervisors/ Assistant Mangers in precession and timeliness in generating and distributing labour report.
- Participates in departmental meetings along with Director of Housekeeping and continually communicates a clear and consistent message regarding the departmental and hotel’s goals to the team to produce the desired results.
- Works effectively with Director of Housekeeping on Cost saving measures for the department and hotel by maximizing productivity.
- Accurate inventory and ordering regular supplies and amenities for the hotel and guestrooms as needed.
- Working with ONE restaurant team to ensure cleanliness of all public areas to the highest levels.
- Ensuring Deep cleaning or rooms and all public spaces is assigned and completed in a timely manner as defined and required.
- Effectively coordinate with maintenance team to identify product deficiencies and resolve them.
- Participate in walkthroughs with Director of Housekeeping and Maintenance Manager for upkeep of rooms and public areas.
People Management
- Collaborate with the Director of Housekeeping and People & Culture to create and maintain an effective onboarding and training experience.
- Foster an open, collaborative, and positive work environment that promotes engagement and teamwork.
- Schedule colleagues based on business levels while effectively managing time and attendance.
- Establish clear performance expectations and KPI accountability measures for Supervisors and Assistant Managers.
- Ensure all hotel and departmental policies are administered fairly and consistently.
- Participate in progressive discipline processes while ensuring proper documentation and follow-up.
- Observe colleague service behaviours and provide coaching, mentorship, and constructive feedback.
- Support colleague recognition initiatives across all shifts and departments.
- Maintain an open-door approach and encourage colleague feedback to identify operational or engagement concerns.
- Conduct regular one-on-one meetings with colleagues to support communication, development, and engagement.
- Support recruitment, interviewing, and hiring processes alongside the Director of Housekeeping.
- Assist in tracking colleague performance, development plans, and departmental accountability initiatives.
Ensuring Exceptional Service
- Lead by example in delivering exceptional Forbes Five-Star guest experiences.
- Mentor and coach the team on luxury service standards and anticipatory guest service.
- Support the development and implementation of corrective action plans focused on improving guest satisfaction results.
- Empower colleagues to resolve guest concerns professionally and efficiently.
- Promote continuous improvement through departmental communication and service initiatives.
- Respond to guest concerns, service recovery situations, and operational challenges promptly.
- Drive operational efficiency while maintaining uncompromising service and cleanliness standards.
- Support and promote all hotel sustainability initiatives.
Salary range: $70,000 - $75,000
Qualifications:
- Sound knowledge of hotel services & facilities, specifically housekeeping operations, policies, procedures.
- Minimum 3 years of housekeeping experience in a management capacity
- Strong computer literacy with MS Word/Excel, required with knowledge of Opera Cloud PMS and HotSOS.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with a passion for guest service.
- A team player with proven leadership and staff development skills.
- Work with poise under pressure in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.
- Graduate from a college/university hospitality program preferred.
- Must be available to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Must be eligible to work in Canada.
