Job Description


WHAT'S THE JOB?

Reporting to the Recruitment Manager and the District Manager, the Regional Recruitment Specialist is responsible for providing a range of administrative and recruitment support. The successful candidate must enjoy working in a fast-paced, team environment with on-site and off-site work

This position requires fly-in/fly-out travel from Edmonton, Alberta or Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, to the project site in Nunavut, with potential for weather-related delays or logistical challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with creating and advertising job postings
  • Identify available and qualified staff to perform the role required at each site accordingly.
  • Pre-screen resumes to evaluate if applicants meet the position requirements.
  • Create and update an interview plan for each position.
  • Create letters and notify unsuccessful candidates.
  • Verify trade credentials and ensure all tickets are current.
  • Coordinate secondary interviews with managers and ensure timely follow-up and closure of feedback loops.
  • Ensure all staff tracking systems are maintained and up to date.
  • Conduct video and in-person interviews to evaluate if the applicant is suitable for hire
  • Verify ID of applicants during video and in-person interviews
  • Complete reference checks on qualified candidates
  • Coordinate Pre-Employment tests
  • Utilize the applicant tracking system to capture all recruiting and hiring activity
  • Maintain up-to-date tracking spreadsheet
  • Review and maintain applicant profiles in Smart Recruiter/ATS system
  • Conduct regular follow-up with Recruitment Specialist, Leads and Managers, Workforce Logistics and Recruitment regarding the effectiveness of recruitment.
  • Create offer letters for successful candidates and notify unsuccessful candidates
  • Assist in the onboarding process.
  • Update staffing requests with sites managers, ensuring type form requests are up to date.
  • Utilize the applicant tracking system to capture all recruiting and hiring activity.
  • Track, update, and promote the company's Employee Referral Program.
  • Liaise with Administrative Support to Input new hire information and contract requests
  • Organize and attend job fairs, trade shows and other recruitment events. Build relationships with regional employment agencies, community employment officers, and champion local hiring initiatives that support company and client hiring targets.
  • Assist in preparing recruitment reports for various stakeholders, including but not limited to community and local recruitment placements and worker promotions.
  • Provide administrative support to the Human Resources team when necessary
  • Redirect active employee communications to the appropriate management
  • Confirm applicants' rehire eligibility, work with Operations to provide informed recommendations for site placements, alternate roles/positions, etc.
  • Facilitate off-site onboarding and orientation process for successful applicants – e.g., one-on-one or group coaching for client or company site access training or requirements, providing technological support for online requirements, etc.
  • Review and understand specific project and partnership hiring targets prioritizing community hiring and opportunities for the target workforce.
  • Collect and review employee feedback (onboarding, midstream, and offboarding/exit) and consolidate into reporting to operations.
  • Work with operations to enhance and promote best hiring processes, reviewing ‘lessons learned’ on a regular basis.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications


WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

Required Qualifications:

  • University Degree or HR Certification
  • 2+ years of experience in workforce management, or 2+ years of experience recruiting in remote camps and the hospitality industry, or 2 + years of experience in an HR administrative and/or recruitment role.
  • Remote site camps and catering experience is an asset
  • Knowledge of full-cycle recruiting procedures and practices.
  • Ability to efficiently review and select resumes that meet company requirements for further screening
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Windows-based computer systems
  • An understanding of human rights legislation and employment standards is preferred
  • Must be flexible in work schedule to meet business needs, including working outside of business hours and a rotation of on-call duties

Working Conditions:

  • Project-based role with primary work in Nunavut, flexibility for remote work when not on-site.
  • Ability to work long shifts (12hrs) and rotational schedules. based (e.g., 1 week on / 1 week off- subject to change without notice based on business requirements)
  • Endurance to function effectively in remote northern climates, including extreme cold, wind, or lack of daylight during specific periods.
  • Resilience under isolation conditions—long periods away from home with limited external contact.
  • Fly-in/fly-out arrangement; shared accommodations and meals provided while on-site.
  • Extended periods away from home with possible weather-related travel delays.
  • Must comply with all company and client health, safety, and operational standards.

Please note: Must be able to successfully pass a Criminal Background Check and the pre-employment Drug & Alcohol + FIT testing preformed by a 3rd party testing centre
