Reason 1 would be FULL TIME position, Bethany doesn't offer this.
reason 2 would be better wages.
reason 3 better pension planAnswered 27 June 2019
There is growth opportunity depending on what you’re looking for, if you are in LPN or an RN you can supervise the unit and learn to lead a team. There are multiple committees you can become involved in, unfortunately this time will not be paid, there are educational opportunities for you if you choose to take the time to learn about them & take advantage of the educational opportunities.Answered 29 September 2018
Bethany does hire casuals unfortunately it’s their own union contracts that messes up the chance of casuals getting work, because of contract Obligations shifts go to part time staff before they will go to casual staff. Casuals have to move on until they find a position somewhere but most HCA’s end up working multiple sites because a good part time position is hard to find and full-time is almost nonexistentAnswered 29 September 2018
Overall the culture is good, care staff and support staff seem to care about each other, RNs, LPNs, HCAs that arent good are few but the union protects the laziest of workers and it burns out the good staff. Lost some good nurses because of the workload and how busy the units are. Appears Bethany Calgary is top heavy, they keep taking from the rural sites to add to the urban site.Answered 25 July 2018
Depends on the shift. You could work at 7 (and everyone else shows up shortly after) and stay until 3 (and everyone else leaves early) or you could work 9-5 (and be expected to clean everything everyone else leaves for you).Answered 31 August 2017
